    I really cant believe this course is available for free. I appreciate having encountered these videos in my beginnings by educating myself in value investing at age 19. My mother language is Spanish, but here I am trying to understand as much as possible.

    Preston, the way you have explained the various topics in this course is outstanding. I have completed a paid course for the fundamentals of stock market and I can definitely say that what you are offering for free is much much better than the paid course that I have completed.
    Great work.

    Completed till this lesson. Good learning from your videos. I hope by the time i finish all 38 of your videos, i will be better equipped to deal with stocks. Previously i thought i knew a lot about stocks & markets, because my portfolio had given good returns in the last 5 to 6 years. Now after watching your videos, i realize , how much more i need to learn.

    @Preston Hey Preston, we are very glad that you are here to help and explain us about some thing that's confusing us a lot all these years.
    Thank you very much for your contribution here.
    Regarding the above vid. There is a small Cut or miss, where the limit order is missing from buyers perspective. Kindly explain it for us.

  • @linx187
    @linx187 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Whats the difference between a stop order and a limit order for a buyer? Your examples are the same outcome (for the buyer) in both the stop order and limit order. Please clarify.

    • @delgadoabdel
      @delgadoabdel 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      According to my understanding. Limit Order is "I am willing to by for $64 or less, but no more than 64'. Stop Order would be "I am willing to buy for $64, no more and no less". I guess the limit order makes more sense since I got $64 to buy but maybe someone's selling for $60.

  • @101perspective
    @101perspective 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Confused on the limit order. The video says that Amy is willing to sell at $65 or better... and that makes it a limit order. How is that different than a stop order? Is the stop order limited to JUST $65 and not anything higher? If so then why would you want a stop order and not always a limit order?
    Also, does the limit order work the same as the stop order in that if you have stock left over after the first sell then that stock becomes a market order... or does the $65 min still apply?

    You have no idea how much I love you right now Preston. Do you think these courses are enough information, or would you recommend something else. Maybe looking/studying a different sector, or a book. 17 year old here who's planning on getting financial freedom before 30. Always thought the education system is rubbish and doesn't suit me, and already wasted so much time on that so not going to do so further, and not planning to go to university, so any helps is greatly appreciated.

    Just a thought but it might have been worth exploring basic supply and demand curves perhaps at this point to show how market prices are set

    Hey Preston,
    I have been going through your courses and am very impressed.
    Your courses are easy to understand, well structured and keep the main topic of value investing on the forefront.
    One suggestion,
    This is in no way a criticism. You would do very well if the courses could be made more interesting.
    A great job. Keep it up.

    great video! really helpful. I have one question here, does the successful transaction between seller and buyer decide the price market of a share? Lets say most buyer and seller agreed (buy/sell waiting) with price of $66, but yesterday price was $64, so does the current market price will go up to $66 due to successful transaction?.
    *Ignoring the external factor affecting the market price such as company credibility and etc.

    Hey Preston thanks for passing on the knowledge. I do have a question though. What would be the appropriate order if i wanted to create an order that was valued below my stocks actual value, that way i could follow the bull but be secured before the bear? Thanks again.

  • @PrivacyKingdoms

    If someone could help me answer this question it would really help me understand the concept of the stock market.
    lets say a seller has a stop order for a stock at 65. Then there is 1 buyer that has a market order for that stock. But then lets say there is another seller with a limit order of 65.
    How would the seller with the limit order ever utilize the "limit" aspect of the stock, aka say selling the stock for 65.01 or 65.02, since the seller with a stop order will only sell at 65, which is the best deal possible for the buyer since 65 is lower than 65.01, 65.02, 65.03 and so on?
    another way to phrase my question is why would a seller ever use a limit order, since the trade will always get executed at 65.00?

      +bebopbop bebop haa...sry i didnt get what u said..can u clarify it?

    • @michaelhofby
      @michaelhofby 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well.. In your example the seller with the stop order at 65 would just sell first and then the next buyer would buy the limit order at 65+ if there was no other stop orders at 65 if the buyer was willing to buy it for over 65.. If not then there is no sale.

    • @michaelhofby
      @michaelhofby 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      stop order is "i wanna sell first stop order for 65".. Limit order is "i wanna sell my stocks for 65 or higher".. It is almost the same but it is just the fact that the price on the stop order drops after the 65 is sold whereas the limit order will not drop after it sells at 65. Personally i cant really understand why someone would ever use a stop order instead of a limit order because why not have the opportunity to sell for "this or greater"..

  • @CanaanHowell
    @CanaanHowell 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought when you buy a stock you have to buy it at the market price, and then when you sell it you are also selling it at the current market price? I have never heard of negotiating prices? sorry the first comment sounded rude, its just frustrating cuz im trying to self educate myself on everything and I keep finding out that what I thought I knew was wrong.

    Confused by the first STOP-ORDER examples, if Amy placed a stop sell order at $65, and Trevor place a stop-buy order at $64, then Amy's sell stop order will be automatically filled when Trevor placed his $64 buy order.... let say if the current market price is $63, then Trevor's order will not get filled, but Amy's sell-stop order will get filled at $63. vice versa..
    if you ask a stop selling price higher than the price that other people bid, your stop will became a market order.
    this is how I understand the Stop Order definition....

    As someone who is 19 years old, a bit lost and looking for some kind of guidance, do you think that people who want to become investors need to take a university course in economics or are they well on their path just by getting information everywhere they can??

      Wolfie Bark yea i am in a similar boat as you (17 year old here). So have you figured it out the answer, would love to hear it.
      Me personally, I am not going to university, maybe apprenticeship or just straight to the real world. Books and internet have all the information, and its free. Always thought college and school was a waste, and university is for people who want a specialty.
