Yay! So glad you got your Thorn sweater out again. It was me that asked about it in the comments from the last video, unless someone else did too. I renege watching Howard the Duck dozens of times when I was a kid. Don't think you could pay me to watch it today! 😂 Platoon is actually one of my favorite movies. I'll watch it whenever it's on and I may even have a DVD copy of it somewhere.

I definitely aporeciate your craziness. What a great idea to do the movie commentaries, I really enjoy listening to that segment. I live your blankets , Scott, and, John, your colorwork sweater made my jaw drop. So nice to see you again.

Yay, you're back! I was just wondering how you are. Clearly Betty-Ann kept you occupied.
You CAN knit left-handed! Amy from NE Knits, here on TH-cam, does exactly that!
John, I also have a high instep and need more depth at the diagonal from heel to top of foot. One thing I've meant to try is to work my heel over more than 50% of the stitches (that is, for a 72 stitch sock, working the heel over 40 stitches rather than 36: moving two instep stitches on each side to the "heel" needle, working the heel over that number of stitches, and then resuming the previous stitch distribution after the heel is done). Bonus: no increases/decreases to keep track of. :)

Hi Scott and John!! Thanks for the shoutout! My husband's name is Andrew. We totally agree that both of the worst movies were indeed terrible, and that Platoon is a difficult to watch but phenomenal movie. You didn't really comment on it, but the soundtrack for Platoon is amazing, and I think the ending little speech by Charlie Sheen is quite thought provoking. John, I'm with you that there can't be another Razzie tie, watching two terrible movies is tough! Love your knitting content, and the movie reviews, looking forward to next time!

Hi, Annika! I will have to check out the Platoon soundtrack now. Thanks so much for watching - I look forward to hanging out again when there's an opportunity.

Yes!!! Left hand knitting is a thing!!
My aunt (who has knitted since childhood) once broke her right arm, didn't heal correctly, had to be rebroken (shudder), was in a cast over a year ..
She NEVER stopped knitting the entire time, just learned left handed... she's fascinating to watch, she never turns her work....just changes hands.
John, I definitely think that's a design element for the sweater!!
    Interesting takes on the movies.
My eldest brother was in Vietnam, he never spoke of it (he's now passed 😢), even though he wasn't in a "combat zone".

As someone who knitted a yoke sweater in merino yarn, with mohair held double as the contrast for colourwork, I can tell you that you're missing out! 😄 Left-handed knitters move their stitches from the right side to the left side needle, as far as I understand it. Love the show always!

the "fuzzy" yoke and non fuzzy sweater body was a trend for a bit (maybe still is? I'm not trendy myself) but Andrea Mowrey had one of her patterns just so... That said, I think that a slightly smaller yarn used for the colourwork in the yoke is perfect to help with the bulk that can happen when knitting colourwork especially with aran weight yarn.

John- I have a suggestion for your socks to make them fit your ankle area better. Since you are doing a short toe heel can add a mini gusset. There’s a free pattern called Friendship socks by Holly Isaac that have a mini gusset. I always use just that part of that pattern to add mini gusset when doing toe up socks with short row heels. My socks fit so much better!

Hi, In my opinion, people like Aaron of Fiber Hustle and John who have some color blindness chose some of the most interesting, fresh, beautiful and enviable color combinations! A perfect color sense does not necessarily make a good artist, does it? Anyway, I watch both John and Aaron to get ideas for color combinatios.

Wow. Hi Scott and John! I'm only 6 minutes in to this podcast and it's the first time I've watched your podcast but, Scott, we would have so much to chat about. AI, for example: I'm a tech writer for a tech company and one of my colleagues has been submitting his writing to me after he's run it through Bard. (He thinks his writing is no good.) Oy vey. It's horrible. Cringeworthy. These AI bots are really good at adding lots of non-essential, "flowery" language. As the editor, I just end up deleting much of it. Readers of tech writing do NOT want to read more than they absolutely must. Conciseness is key. When you read that little intro, I immediately recognized it as AI-bot speak.

Oh, one more point. I am left handed and YES, there are left handed knitters. You can teach a left hander to knit by having him/her sit opposite you, rather than side by side. Yes, everything is reversed. Funnily enough, I knit right handed but I crochet left handed.

    Two questions:
    1. Can anyone tell me why Caleb and Justin moved to Switzerland? Did Justin get a really cool new job, or what? Caleb was so happy about his new job, I assume it would take something really great to make him move away!
    2. If John makes a colorwork sweater with bulky yarn, will he be able to fit through doorways? 😋

I saw Purple Rain and was appalled at Prince's misogyny. But my friend liked it and so I saw it again and it was better since I knew already how the women would be treated. I watch it now only to see th musical performances. Cherry Moon was definitely not good, beginning with the decision to film in black and white. I laughed out loud when you describe Prince's character as the sexiest man in lace, cutouts, and high-heeled boots. I used to ponder who would make the best husband: Prince or Michael Jackson. Tough call really. Lol.

The US should never have been in that war. Initially we were there as "advisors", then Johnson escalated it and had no strategy. I remember watching the news and seeing young Vietnamese men walking the streets and sitting in cafes while American treasure was fighting and dying to keep communism from taking over their country. So BAD!

a friend at work asked chat gp for a phrase using "drama llama" and got interesting results. i commented on my dislike for people in her meeting even using teh phrase drama llama, because it felt dismissive. my friend told chat gp about my concern, and asked what it thought about that. it wrote back the most beautiful and thought provoking response! i said chat gp was like a therapist. then chat gp basically told me to go get a real therapist. 😳 but, like, in a nice way 🫢
