I think this list falls into the mythology that great albums are very influential. As incredible as Jimi Hendrix was, and I think because he was so great no one could be the next Jimi. Led Zeppelin were great and popular but they were more influenced than influencers. We're missing a lot of true innvoators. While Sergeant Peppers was brilliant, earlier albums basically invented the modern album. Where albums used to be singles compilations, the Beatles made music on albums to release singles from. Bauhaus popularized goth and almost every like band afterwards used the Bauhaus aesthetic. The Jesus And Mary Chain and Husker Du popularized distortion. Brian Eno invented ambient. And I think the biggest album left out was My Bloody Valentines Loveless which took distortion to a whole new level.
So many left off but, the end result was never in doubt. The encounter The Beatles had with Pink Floyd at Abbey Road Studios during the recording of Sgt. Pepper’s is one of the most understated moments of the sixties.
Led Zeppelin hates the classification heavy metal and I agree with that in the sense that it kind of sets limits. They were such great musicians and played so many styles as to defy any specific genre
Rumours. Stevie Nicks writing songs about how terrible her ex is, and then making him play guitar on those songs and sing backup. 😂 One of the best albums ever made. At least it got an honorable mention -- I was beginning to think y'all had entirely forgotten about it and Van Halen's first album.
Dylan Bringing All Back Home. The genius has to be my first pick. He entered my world when I was about 7 thanks to my siblings. If you’re a poet, you know it, better not blow it.
Music From Big Pink needs to be on here. Influenced The Beatles, broke up Cream because Clapton wanted to do more of that style, and inspired Roger Waters

A Night at the Opera by Queen, and specifically, Bohemian Rhapsody changed how music was played on radio stations. Pre-BoRhap, stations would pretty much refuse to play any song that was 3+ minutes. Then came Queen's 6 minute masterpiece to completely change the rules going forward.
Led Zeppelin's 8 minute long Stairway To Heaven, despite not being a single, had massive radio appeal years before Bohemian Rhapsody. It was THE most requested song of the 1970s.
An honorable mention could be Murmur by R.E.M. Elements of punk and new wave fed into what became known as alternative rock, but you could argue this was the first significant album in that subgenre.
I like my favorite album from this list on the CDs like Purple Rain Prince & the Revolution and London Calling The Clash and Black Sabbath Black Sabbath and Are You Experienced The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Bringing It All Back Home Bob Dylan and Nevermind Nirvana and Pet Sounds The Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin and The Dark Side Of The Moon Pink Floyd and Rumours Fleetwood Mac and Van Helen Van Helen and Exile On Main Street The Rolling Stones and Born To Run Bruce Springsteen and The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars David Bowie and SGT. Suddenly, with this video I was immediately brought back to the earliest times of this channel, back when WM used to release videos of this type not on a daily basis but in a less frequent, and more enjoyable manner. As opposed to what you guys have developed to be the current way WM does things now. Now, what can be said about this list? No surprises. There's always the same old ranking, SPLHCB on the top or second-of-the-top position, TDSOTM among the three best; I sometimes feel like lists of this kind are recurrent, repetitive. Of course, it excites our emotion and make us feel so proud that our favorite albums are reaching the top places, but it is slowly getting too predictable and boring. Just a lazy reflection... :P

And I think the biggest album left out was My Bloody Valentines Loveless which took distortion to a whole new level.
True. But this video is about singles
The title says ALBUMS

REVOLVER is Beatles best album IMHO
Led Zeppelin literally changed rock. Most influential rock band ever.
So many left off but, the end result was never in doubt. The encounter The Beatles had with Pink Floyd at Abbey Road Studios during the recording of Sgt. Pepper’s is one of the most understated moments of the sixties.
John was on LSD at this meeting They were recording GETTING BETTER
Led Zeppelin hates the classification heavy metal and I agree with that in the sense that it kind of sets limits. They were such great musicians and played so many styles as to defy any specific genre
Rumours. Stevie Nicks writing songs about how terrible her ex is, and then making him play guitar on those songs and sing backup. 😂 One of the best albums ever made. At least it got an honorable mention -- I was beginning to think y'all had entirely forgotten about it and Van Halen's first album.
All are best and to comment is to make history. Love from Nepal 🎉🎉❤
Back in Black? A Night at The Opera?
Great list
DARK OF THE MOON!!!!!!!!!!!
That London Calling is an A+ album
Dylan Bringing All Back Home. The genius has to be my first pick. He entered my world when I was about 7 thanks to my siblings. If you’re a poet, you know it, better not blow it.
I would say that the album Meet the Beatles began a major change in music in music as we knew it.
Good job putting Bob Dylan in this list!
Let go so good❤
Where’s Velvet Underground?
Underrated af.
Great band
ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Revolver was much more influential and important than Sgt Pepper's, many of the ideas that appear on that album had already appeared on Revolver.
Always thought REVOLVER is BEST BEATLES LP
Shocked I somewhat agree with mojo.
Every album mentioned are easily in my top 30.
Other rock n roll albums that changed:
Goodbye Yellow brick road by Elton John
Full Moon Fever by Tom Petty
Girls Girls Girls by Montley Crue
Pink Floyd Time .... ❤❤❤❤ The Beatles....❤❤❤ Prince ❤❤❤❤ Michael Jackson and Janet ❤❤❤❤ the best
Music From Big Pink needs to be on here. Influenced The Beatles, broke up Cream because Clapton wanted to do more of that style, and inspired Roger Waters
The original idea of Black Sabbath was, “we make horror films (specifically the Hammer films with the likes of Christopher Lee), so why not make horror music?”
The top two need to be swapped. I firmly believe DOTM has had a larger effect on music that came after it.
ROCK N ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fleetwood Mac rumors because all the couples were in toxic relationships. Showed thru the music
If Tusk ever tours near you, go! Great, really fun tribute band.
@@HeronCoyote1234 okay cool thanks

Queen - A night at the opera, The Doors - The Doors
You could have done Top 20 and still left out some stunners.
Bob Dylan did that before with Like a Rolling Stone.
Led Zeppelin's 8 minute long Stairway To Heaven, despite not being a single, had massive radio appeal years before Bohemian Rhapsody. It was THE most requested song of the 1970s.
We know you enjoyed the movie, now go to bed.
Great Top 2. Not too bad after that
purple rain is beyond legendary 4 ever !!
Wasn't disappointed with #1.
Pink Floyd- Darkside of the moon is the only album that matters on this list!!! Pet sounds a close second!!
No love for More of The Monkees???
An honorable mention could be Murmur by R.E.M. Elements of punk and new wave fed into what became known as alternative rock, but you could argue this was the first significant album in that subgenre.
Purple Rain will always be my favorite of all time!!! Jimi Hendrix would be my close second!! Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd would be tied for third!!
Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band The Beatles
Finally a music top 10 Watchmojo got right.
Nice list but, you left out Queen, The Talking Heads, Devo, The B52's and Living Colour.
Did they call Purple Rain radio friendly as an album? It literally contained the song that started the PMRC and album warning labels.
Not to mention a few songs that had to be shortened for radio play. All around not made for radio, but still amazing!
