Downwind-only sails are useless for rivers. Only for wide lakes - then you have to paddle back against the wind. The only viable kayak sail is a PROPER sail which can tack upwind.
fingerhorn4 I have one on a hobbies adventure 16. This kayak has a dagger board and I can get 10 degrees upwind pending sea conditions. TBH, you plan your trip around your kayak capability. The v sail is ideal for a kayak as it does not yaw hard when reaching and actually provides lift when trimmed correctly. It can be collapsed when fighting fish which is a huge advantage. The homie mainsail is terrible as it makes the kayak unstable, yaws hard in moderate winds, impedes fish fighting ability and gets in the way in general. Obviously if you’re on a River it would not be appropriate, but a motor instead... or better yet, a boat
It isn't difficult to design and build a self-made rig on a mast, so can go 45° each side off the wind, and anywhere between. Build and mount a swiveling lee board
He didnt mention that you need longer m4 machine screw to attach the web triangle . The one installed in Prowler is 20mm long and you need 7 to 10 mm longer to affix the triangke with
