Lol that was the most unreliable promised I have ever heard. "I'll have more concubine, but you're the only woman I will love." It's like saying "I promise to keep you safe, but let me surround you with all these poisonous snakes and scorpions that are free to roam around you." It's been known throughout the history that 'hell hath no fury than a woman scorned.'
Exactly, everyone knows that harem means scheming to earn his attention and get favours from grandmother. He is very naive and naive men hurt women in harems.
Not only that, but he expects her to love him hole hearted, but be with him having sex with others, & probably running into their arms every time she gets mad, or they fight. You that real love. And when gets older, had a few kids he'll get newer, younger wife's, and ignore her, yup, that's real love.
Loved when she said: only weak and coward men say “I had no choice “ as an excuse She’s smart for leaving not like the rest who stays and be hurt all the time.. this lady showed she is no. 1 with pride which u don’t see often in these shows. Respect 🫡
I don't know about the drama but Dugu Jialo was a real historical character, the first empress of the Sui Dynasty. She married her husband at 14 and he promised her to have no other woman. He kept his promise even as the emperor and they co-ruled the kingdom. She bore him 5 sons and 5 daughters. He strayed once late in life and she was furious and killed the woman. He too became angry and took off on a horse to the woods. With the help of their high officials, they reconciled. She died at 59 and he buried her with the highest honour, reserving a space for himself in the same tomb. He died two years later and was buried with her. This is one of the few true love stories of a Chinese emperor who openly loved and respected his wife as an equal and as a very capable co-ruler who contributed to a peaceful and prosperous time. Unfortunately, the eventual crown prince and next emperor lost it all. I don't know the background story of this clip but it shows her insistence in monogamy which she placed a high value for all marriages, affecting some of her major decisions on governing.
Wow so refreshing to see someone who knows the actual true history. It really helps me to enjoy these shows when I know the history of the characters in real life
@@RosiePosey5150 She really was an outstanding woman in Chinese history. Her father was of a minority race with a culture of strong women with responsibilities and her mother was Han with refined culture. She combined the strength and bravery of her father's culture and was highly intelligent and educated with Han culture. Beginning the night before her wedding, her family suffered greatly and were killed a month later。 Her marriage saved her life, Then the couple went through tremendous hardships and dangers and she played a big role in their survival. And it was her who convinced her husband to take power as the emperor when he faced the very difficult decision to either support a very young prince, with uncertainty and even mortal danger to himself, or to seize power. As the empress, she walked everyday with her husband to the meeting hall, waited for him and they walked back together to spend time as a couple. They were known as the Two Supremes, signalling their equal status in ruling. She spent much of her time reading and was brilliant. Well, this is a very brief history and I don't know how the drama series spins the details.
Every Chinese drama sends me down a rabbit hole. I have learned so much thanks to them. Curious about something and it leads me to something else that then leads to something else and before I know it it's been a couple hours. Example was the banners or traditional ceremonies.
@@RosiePosey5150 These days many Chinese historical dramas are bastardized, using modern lingo, behaviour, measures, and moral standard, often without awareness, though some of them are obviously done on purpose as comedies. Of course, there are some that strive to portray the eras accurately, investing great effort and huge sums of money in research and designs. It's just that there are so many productions these days, most of which purely for entertainment and high viewership. Women in much of Chinese history were generally more oppressed than portrayed in these dramas. But the Tang Dynasty women were very free, sporty, and sexually open with marital equality. This period saw a female emperor, with her de facto female prime minister, political princesses, woman generals, etc.
She's right to reject him. It's not safer being married to him and being in a harem. The only person that gets satisfied in that arrangement is the hubby. She's too vulnerable. She's better off marrying someone else who can promise her fidelity, love, respect, dignity, and protection. He can't offer her squat. He already betrayed her. Don't trust him.
@@saiyongdawn7756 I know, but my point is, were they really happy living like that? I don't think so. No woman wants to know that their husband is sleeping with other women. But most of these dramas romanticize this issue.

Так смешно, я буду иметь ещё наложниц, но люблю я только тебя, она ему говорит, не хочу, а он всё равно люблю не могу, императоры такие жалкие, иногда стыдно смотреть на них таких.
The more power these disgusted so-called kings possessed, the more sexually lustful they became. It might be true about her being his only love when he said that to her, but men are forever forgetful, so those empty words of his would also be quickly gone with the wind. Although love should be based on trust but to 100% trust in men would be no different from throwing a stone into a river and expecting it to rise up.
"Ага, люблю не могу, но трахать буду все, что движется, и это нормально, я - мужчина и ты должна это спокойно принять, не ревновать и любить только меня". Если блага распределять только мужчинам, то женщин якобы как грязи до фига и их приходится содержать.. Какие же убогие мысли у мужиков. Большинство женщин пахали за копейки и продолжают пахать, как лошади...
