Mr. Hoffman spoke of some contemporary spiritual teachers. Let me add that one of the best places to meet these teachers is right here on this channel! Be Cool.
Thank you!
Been meditating for 52 yrs - the internal meaning - comes more from the - heart - and then the mind - orders it.
Subtler and subtler - meaning comes - and it is vast and becomes more universal and supports thought. - the Base really - is just Love.
Have not experienced - anything superior - for humans. It is still work - of heart and mind and thought/action.
Trying it - is tasting - the sweetness - of the apple.
Fare thee well - on life's journey.
...one of the smartest guys on the planet, in my opinion...saw him recently at the Science of Consciousness Conference in Tucson...his presentation was an exceptional highlight...
Agreed. And a lovely man too.
Spira has stated it is not about learning itself (which already knows itself) but that it is an act of creation, self-sacrifice, and therefore love.
In my opinion listening to eckhart and Rupert is a strong combination. It just makes the roots in presence to get stronger.
BEAUTIFUL COMMENTS ON MEDITATION, LEARNING TO BE STILL, LEARNING THAT JUDGEMENTS OF OTHERS IS WORSE THAN A WASTE OF TIME -- IT SICKENS OUR OWN HEARTS. THANK YOU, DONALD AND SIMON
Thank you Dan
All is ONE!
I literally searched Donald Hoffman meditation and scrolled forever and this never showed up.
🤷🏻♂️
Wonderful. I’ve personally found the teachings of Swami Tadatmananda to be very helpful.
Swami Sarvapriyananda is also another great teacher. But Rupert Spira and Eckhart Tolle are my best teachers. By listening to them you become more spacious, light and equinamous and enjoy life more.
These podcasters. Asking Donald Hoffman for spiritual guidance. I loved Hoffman's answer.
lol
Consciousness is one only. For transactional purposes a second is accepted as a kind of catalyst till liberation, which doesn't exist after liberation.
Meditation, being a process of the mind, is always about 'Sagunam' or one with attributes and qualifications. This is like a journey to the infinite but stops short at the highest level of the absolute with attributes; hence a mental projection only.
On the other hand 'Nirgunam' or the one with absolutely no attributes or qualifications cannot be reached by meditation. The last milestone can be traversed only thro' a logical enquiry as to 'Who am I?' into the innermost recesses of one's being and remaining in that state of enquiry for long periods, till the enquired recognizes its own original nature of 'being'.
The earlier meditational practice cannot get one the infinity but is helpful in understanding the map of the territory to be traversed.
This is what is written by Sri Ramana Maharishi in his 'Ulladhu Narpadu'.
With all my respect to Dr. Hoffman, no spiritual teachers please please please 🙏 you end up being soooooo disappointed by them it can ruin the whole truth for U !!! You don’t need to listen no one in terms of spirituality, just sit and observe and it’s all you can and need to do! Even the most disturbing mind needs to be observed and that’s all, beginning and the end! Otherwise you just gonna create yourself an idol who knows better and that’s the last thing you want. Learn about the meditation practice and you’ll realize everything by yourself, don’t let your mind fool you again.
And another crucial thing about it, if you listen some teachers, yes it calms down your mind, but only temporarily! Rather than if you realize it by your own observation and that’s staying with you! It’s a very tricky trap, please be aware of it
Miss the times when i wasn't in this simulation yet.
Same
Can't find the people Dr Hoffman mentions as those he listens to for his own journey into higher consciousness. Anyone know who they are?
Eckhart Tolle and Rupert Spira
Literally everywhere on youtube if you just search....
Where is the full video?
Have you looked into ACIM metaphysics?
Bufo 🐸 💨 ✨
I'm sorry but im not a child rapist and murderer. I refuse to be called one with them.
I fear people like this man are ultimately incorrect, perhaps there is no purpose or meaning behind reality and its just random existence that ultimately ceases upon death, I think the evidence overwhelmingly shows this to be the case, but we don't want to believe it because its extremely uncomfortable
evidence? What evidence? Ultimately it is YOUR experience that counts alone. What you see in the outer world is not evidence of anything. They die, and you see their bodies decaying, but then what about the dying person? What do you know about their experience? You know nothing about it. I'm not saying there's something after death or that existence goes on. I just cannot know. I'm saying I can only know when my time comes. And so do you. That's the only plausible evidence.
Indeed there may be nothing, and eventually existence ceases upon death as you mentioned. That's a possibility, and it's real. But no, the evidence doesn't point to that at all, if you take the evidence as your experience alone, which is in fact the only real thing you can ever know. Let's stick to the facts. What you see happening with others is just an observation. You have no means to know what they experience. All you can know is your own experience, here an now.
That is still true. In fact, this is even more true with Nonduality. Nonduality doesn't change anything and it's still spontaneous and completely demolishes the "me" or "I" now (no need to wait for physical death of the body). There is still no purpose. I agree with your view for instance but how can direct experience be denied?
But your "fear", where is it coming from?
In some ways, they are both extremely uncomfortable to mind. But it doesn't matter either way. Even if it is a feel good story mind tells itself, so be it. At least with Nonduality, there's within "this reality" no more deference to egos/thoughts. And misidentification of egos has created a lot of dissonance in this impelled world.
@@RamSamudrala I'm not convinced non duality has any merit, we exist within a finite universe we are all seperate finite beings that make our own decisions, and our lives come to an end at some point, the proof of this is evident with dimentia and other brain problems, if conciousness was paramount as non duality suggests, then you would not loose your mind as a result of trauma to the brain, our minds (conciousness) cannot exist without a fully functioning physical body, which indicates the physical universe theory or materialism is correct, just look at the number of events and elements of the world that as a human being you have absolutely no power over and thats fine, and you can still have purpose in your life its just that you have to accept that it's a temporary purpose. It's still very scary to me as my whole life I believed in a higher power and in wrongs one day being righted by said higher power, one that understands what we all go through in our lives, but I no longer believe that, materialism is the only theory that fits our experience.
Spirituality doesn't claim there is a 'purpose' but simply that there is an underlying source to experience that is immortal. The human dies.
I had an epiphany a few years ago that consciousness definitely doesn’t die with the body but continues on. Then I got really depressed at the thought of having to reincarnate over and over again forever, that not even death would put an end to this absurd material existence. Soon after I became interested in “spirituality,” specifically Eastern Yoga and meditation because it offers the possibility of ending the cycle by attuning consciousness to subtler, “higher” planes of existence, possibly all the way back to God/source/ultimate or whatever you prefer to call it.
