We were near Asheville, NC the past week. We were trying to decide when to head home last night. God woke us up this morning about 3am and we felt the need to load up and head out a day early. We are home now. We are glad we listened. The new keeps talking about how had its going to be in the mountains around Asheville when the Hurricane comes thru. You don't want to be in the valleys of Appalachia with a big rain event.
Sending prayers for all y'all. And safety travelling hills with trees falling. Lord, please drop the trees in the ditches, not across the roads. Thanks. Amen
Hey guys. Storm track puts it pretty close to you, as a depression. But still a lot of rain. If any part of the park, has ever flooded. Maybe move people from those areas. May God keep the entire park safe.
Just watching the growth in both of your lives through the HOLY SPIRIT its beautiful. Praying for you all. GOD bless each one of you, your families, your friends.
I'm with you, John. I would stay with my dogs, while Bob would stay in shelter with our almost 3 year old, Axel. Oh, speaking of our grandson, I'll bet I not only haven't mentioned him to ya, but we're helping raise him. It's gonna be 3 years on Oct.5th, and due to his mother heart health and her mental illness, we had him the 3ntire first 6 months of his tiny life. We now have him 5 outta 7 days and 4 nights to help his mommy out while she works 2nd shift at our local Walmart. We are currently getting our "Homey D'Trailer" ( 😂😂) ready for our last vacation of the year. We take Axel with us on all our trips. Like Sage, he gets to experience more than lots of children, and loves nature and exploring with his Papa. I'm so grateful we've been with you folks for so many years. You've given us tons of tips and tricks that's saved us time and money!! Thank you for everything you've done to keep the Odd Squad as wonderful and honest for us all to follow and not changing your TH-cam channel to only pay like Patronage. You both know I am disabled, and Bob is retired on SS, so our income is past super tight now with having Axel with us. I know some day we'll be able to become a member and finally meet you at your beautiful campground ( and still bumm8ng when we missed you on our only trip to Florida when y'all were going to speak at a RV show and we were just a c0l hours away...I'm sure we'd have been blessed to have met up with you back then, but I also know, God writes straight with crooked lines, so there must have been a reason that he's making us wait, and I know when he allows us our time together, it will be great!!! Until then my beautiful friends, Mercedes, John, and Sage, plz stay safe, blessings from above as I ask God every night when I include y'all in my prayers, peace, joy, and happiness. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ ❤ As always, sending positive vibes and great juju❤ Paula Thomason
GREAT ADVICE!! It's also a good idea to stop at the rest areas along the Interstates and go inside the bathrooms. I've waited out tornadoes in Texas that way.
Mercedes and John, you guys touch my heart, you are great, wonderful people! Good advice when RV'ing, RV's are not the best place to be in bad weather, being aware of the weather in the area you are in is critical to your survival! We are just 10 miles inland from Crystal River, Fla., in a sticks & bricks, waiting for Helene to arrive, our RV safely stored in a garage. We are out of the range of storm surge (hopefully), but the projected 20' surge from this storm could be a disaster for many coastal communities, particularly Cedar Key and the Big Bend area. Folks in these areas should get out now, do not wait, but do NOT, under any circumstances, abandon your pets! Prayers for all in the path of this huge storm. 🙏🙏
Great point about the "wind", I've seen beach umbrellas strike a small family, nearly decapitate an older woman, and almost impale a teenager all enjoying a beach day with strong winds
Hey John, we are with you! We've stayed behind with our pets before and prayed when tornadoes were near! The good news is more and more shelters are taking pets. Glad you are opening it up for Odd Squaders. Hurricanes are not fun to go through! If we were RVing out there, we'd take you up on it!
Great tips! FYI... When we make camp, we always fill our fresh water tank for 2 reasons. First, if the campground loses water for some strange reason, we have a backup and second, it adds weight in case of adverse weather! Stay safe and keep up the great work!!!
This is why I keep a 'bug out' bag in the RV...you could be in the cinderblock shower house a long time if there is a lot of damage...ya want water you can trust, food, and a way to heat it. And by all means, put shoes on because if there is destruction, there's glass and nails about.
Flash flood!! That was my worst weather so far. I'm in Rapid City, South Dakota right now. 89° today in late September, but I will leave before the snowfall. I really enjoy and appreciate the more frequent posting you are doing lately.

You guys are awesome! I had a tornado licking at my door in Lincoln NE last May. Crazy, crazy! I’m with John on the pets. If my cats can’t go, I don’t go!
Some good advice you two. I'm on a seasonal site in the thumb of Michigan, and the storms pop up out of no where.we're surrounded by farm land, so the wind goes crazy. I check the weather morning and night!
My friend and I were going to camp at Fort De soto park. Our friends awning blew off and went into the gulf when crossing the Howard Franklin Bridge. !!!! You are so right about the wind. in an RV
I’ve evacuated 3 hurricanes you need cash small bills, atms won’t work. Top off gas at any gas station open. Have paper road maps. Stay off interstate routes they plug up and even stop for miles.
Thank You. We're in the Nolichucky River campground in TN- We have great people helping each other - Thank you for your info and support. You just popped up on my YT for a reason...
Awesome information, we are a sailing family considering switching to RV life. Life on the water is heavily based on what is going on with the weather. We have to check wind and sea forecasts to see if they're favorable and safe. Weather effects if we can got off the boat safely. We have to plan every aspect of our lives around what the weather is doing. Think you made a great video and being a solid American.
Hey just fyi I shared this to FB as we have friends we consider family that I tagged in the post for them to see as a possible option in case they can't get back to Michigan right off.
We had a huge oak tree fall on our previous RV, because of high winds. It's God Who kept us safe. I have since been told that this RV park has a tornado shelter.
I was camping and out of no where a tornado came and we couldn't bug out (didn't have time) so all the animals and humans went to the hallway between the pass through bathroom cuz that was the only place without windows.
