    We were near Asheville, NC the past week. We were trying to decide when to head home last night. God woke us up this morning about 3am and we felt the need to load up and head out a day early. We are home now. We are glad we listened. The new keeps talking about how had its going to be in the mountains around Asheville when the Hurricane comes thru. You don't want to be in the valleys of Appalachia with a big rain event.

    I'm with you, John. I would stay with my dogs, while Bob would stay in shelter with our almost 3 year old, Axel. Oh, speaking of our grandson, I'll bet I not only haven't mentioned him to ya, but we're helping raise him. It's gonna be 3 years on Oct.5th, and due to his mother heart health and her mental illness, we had him the 3ntire first 6 months of his tiny life. We now have him 5 outta 7 days and 4 nights to help his mommy out while she works 2nd shift at our local Walmart.
    We are currently getting our "Homey D'Trailer" ( 😂😂) ready for our last vacation of the year. We take Axel with us on all our trips. Like Sage, he gets to experience more than lots of children, and loves nature and exploring with his Papa.
    I'm so grateful we've been with you folks for so many years. You've given us tons of tips and tricks that's saved us time and money!! Thank you for everything you've done to keep the Odd Squad as wonderful and honest for us all to follow and not changing your TH-cam channel to only pay like Patronage. You both know I am disabled, and Bob is retired on SS, so our income is past super tight now with having Axel with us. I know some day we'll be able to become a member and finally meet you at your beautiful campground ( and still bumm8ng when we missed you on our only trip to Florida when y'all were going to speak at a RV show and we were just a c0l hours away...I'm sure we'd have been blessed to have met up with you back then, but I also know, God writes straight with crooked lines, so there must have been a reason that he's making us wait, and I know when he allows us our time together, it will be great!!!
    Until then my beautiful friends, Mercedes, John, and Sage, plz stay safe, blessings from above as I ask God every night when I include y'all in my prayers, peace, joy, and happiness. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ ❤ As always, sending positive vibes and great juju❤ Paula Thomason

    Mercedes and John, you guys touch my heart, you are great, wonderful people! Good advice when RV'ing, RV's are not the best place to be in bad weather, being aware of the weather in the area you are in is critical to your survival! We are just 10 miles inland from Crystal River, Fla., in a sticks & bricks, waiting for Helene to arrive, our RV safely stored in a garage. We are out of the range of storm surge (hopefully), but the projected 20' surge from this storm could be a disaster for many coastal communities, particularly Cedar Key and the Big Bend area. Folks in these areas should get out now, do not wait, but do NOT, under any circumstances, abandon your pets! Prayers for all in the path of this huge storm. 🙏🙏

    This is why I keep a 'bug out' bag in the RV...you could be in the cinderblock shower house a long time if there is a lot of damage...ya want water you can trust, food, and a way to heat it. And by all means, put shoes on because if there is destruction, there's glass and nails about.

We have to check wind and sea forecasts to see if they're favorable and safe. Weather effects if we can got off the boat safely. We had a huge oak tree fall on our previous RV, because of high winds. It's God Who kept us safe. I have since been told that this RV park has a tornado shelter.

    I was camping and out of no where a tornado came and we couldn't bug out (didn't have time) so all the animals and humans went to the hallway between the pass through bathroom cuz that was the only place without windows.

    I appreciate your video-though fam in TX, Louisiana aren't RV'ing rn! (I have a new baby grandaugbter in TX ❤)... but I'll throw in here-that wind can be nuts in fire states too. Experienced Tubbs 2017, Glass 2020 etc, in a sticks & bricks (had to evac, & hubby very ill with brain tumor & Lou Gehrigs)here in N CA...nightmare. Fire spreads so quick in wind, & here is fire season. To go bag for sure.
    Meds, water, snacks, batt fan for if gas is hard to find & it is hot (not stop if sky is orange though) & you can park for a bit until finding shelter, T paper, ziplocks for little or big trash, charging cords for phone of course, paper maps absolutely (cell service gets nuts in fire too), chapstick (smoke air starts to crack lips often), masks (well, got those ole things somewhere🤪), shoes! flip flops nope-unless you didn't have warning & woke to 'get away now' ...
    Probably stuff Iam forgetting, but having been on the rd in evac, we saw lots of RVs going through what we were 💔 yikes. Yes, watch branches, trees- wind can get hot & strong in a fire, so wires, branches & other stuff do fly all over too. 🙏Prayers to all during storm & hurricane time, I got my eye on y'all from here~

    If you have to, hitch up and move so you're always facing the wind. This will prevent you from flipping over. You can take 100mph head on, but not in any other side.
    Pay attention to the weather is most important.

    • @RVOddCouple
      @RVOddCouple  หลายเดือนก่อน

      True but what are the odds? Getting a big Rig facing the exact location of a wind storm is extremely difficult.

    Hey guys! Have y’all thought about putting in a tornado shelter at Thunder Canyon. I’ve seen it done at a campground before and it looked like a solid plan

    I live close to your bad weather event. Rain , hail, hit yall hard on the way to Amarillo. Im in Lubbock , wish you had just driveway camped at my house! As a long time fan put my name down on your friends for safety places to go on the road. Other squad members too. Just an idea for Mercedes to make another list . Members and fans , where they live and if they would be Squad host helpers! Put me on the list. Do a video or email to ask folks if they would be able to help and what they can do.
