Hey there, thanks for your comment. I hope this answers the question I think you were asking? For the Slower backing track, the basic strumming pattern is pretty much |: 1 | 2& | 3 | 4& :| (Down, DownUp, Down, DownUp) all the way through. For the Faster backing track, the basic strumming pattern is alternate picking 8th notes (starting on a down stroke). Crucially, to give that syncopated feel, over the space of every two bars you accent quaver beat 1, beat 7 - and then beat 5 of the second bar. Once the tune gets under way, the accents generally repeat every bar and lie on quaver beat 1, beat 4, and beat 7. Later on, the placement of the accents vary, but all still with the 8th note feel. Feel free to experiment with your own accents and you should find that it all works. 😃
Wow amazings work! I recently formed a sort of irish folk/rock band although none of us is irish :D ( we just all like the energy of that musik and the beers ) so this is rly helpful. Thanl you
Thank you Charles - I have been struggling to get the timing of this tune. Your video has helped enormously. I came to your channel from "CutiePie" page. I hope you two will do more collaborations.
That’s great to hear! I’m really glad it’s been of help :) And yes it was wonderful to be able to collaborate with CutiePie so will look forward to another in future. 🤞🙂
A million thanks Charles! I am so excited to have stumbled upon your awesome backing tracks for one of my all time favorites. What notes are you playing in the twiddle? Any help would be appreciated because I love your embellishments. Thanks!
@@kayli7975 Hey, thanks for your kind words and welcome to my channel! You are right! The twiddle rotates around the E, so (in the key of Em) that is E, F sharp, E, open D, E. It's a common technique called a turn or a long roll (in classical music, a bit like a combined upper and lower mordent) and it is sure to make your music sound very Irish-y!🙂 On a similar note (pun intended!) this TH-cam short of mine might be of interest: th-cam.com/video/FIQZBiVwiQ4/w-d-xo.html
Have you ever considered creating a backing track for "The Gael" from "The Last Of The Mohicans" film? I think it would sound fabulous 👌 I would certainly purchase it from you and use it. 😀
@@CharlesHarrisonMusic Oof! I hadn't thought about a copyright..good point. I understand how that could be tricky and costly. I have a traditional one that may be a better suggestion..."King of the Fairies" 🍀
Hey there! Just popping back to this comment to check if you have come across my newest Play Along video, which is of "King of the Fairies"! It's taken a fair while... but I am back to creating them and have just released this requested tune. Wishing you well 🙂
This . Is . A . Challenge !
Édit: done
Really enjoyed this. I’ve been playing this on whistle for a few years, and now using mandolin, but the backing music really brings it to life. Thanks

What a talented person you are, I am learning this on the mandolin as a beginner.
Thank you very much! 🙌 Mandolin is a great instrument; I love it! Are you learning chords or the melody… or perhaps both? 🙂
Learning both.
Excellent stuff! 😊

Ooh yeah that's such a great tune!! Although it's not traditional so is still in copyright. I'll add it to the list and see what I can do though! 🙂
