Gustav Cords was a close friend to Max Reger. His Concert Fantasy, dedicated to the cornet virtuoso Fritz Werner, was published about 1905 in versions with piano or orchestra accompaniment. It was later also printed in the U.S.A.. Up to the 2nd World War, the composition was quite popular throughout Europe and also served as a compulsory piece in auditions. Made in 1981, this was the world premiere recording of Cords' Concert Fantasy.
