Egg appam is a common delicacy as well...It's amazing how a South Indian and a Bangladeshi delicacy is so much similar...It's tru if something unites the whole world is the food we eat...
Interestingly the egg less version was the only version we saw growing up in Bangladesh. The egg version probably got imported from India very recently.
Yeah, south Indian and Bangladeshi food and weather (especially Kerala) are quite similar. we also eat similar food as dosa called "chapti" .
We call it Chitoi pitha..

Dhakeshwari temple is also there that's why this name is dhaka
It might be the reverse. ঢাকেশ্বরী might be ঢাকা+ঈশ্বরী, which can be interpreted as the Goddess worshipped in Dacca
U could have gone Ring road nearer to Camp. Varieties of street foods are there.

You should try with "dudh chitoi", original way of eating chitoi. Another option date molasses and coconate shred with chitoi.

We always learned that Dhaka wasn't really the capital of bangladesh.. it was named Jahangir Nagar after mughal emperor Jahangir.. and when dhaka was made to be the capital people celebrated the Day with a drum called "Dhaak".. the name Dhaka came from that..
