    • @myssdarknluvly
      @myssdarknluvly  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We brought bug spray initially and used to spray ourselves before going to sleep but stopped over time because we just got tired of doing it. We simply tried to keep the mosquitoes out of the house as much as possible. We spray all throughout the house during the day while the house is not occupied and it helps to kill/ keep them out. Wearing clothes that cover helps at night. I wish I had an easy answer, unfortunately I'm still trying to figure it out 😆. I know there are various mosquito repellent out there to try though

    • @myssdarknluvly
      @myssdarknluvly  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes there is. Unfortunately, all the power outages issues can mess up your refrigerator too. Many people opt for back up power supply like generators. Others who can afford have solar panels

    • @myssdarknluvly
      @myssdarknluvly  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, it depends on various factors especially the person's lifestyle and where they live in the country. $100 is about 1400 ghc rightnow and that might be enough for a local even with all the constant price increase but most locals don't live the comfortable life we're used to in the West.

    I just don’t understand why there only seems to be two options financially in Ghana when I watch these type of videos. It’s either living basically bare bones (very limited extras) or “balling out”. That is what concerns me. It also seems to be some judgement directed toward people if they want to live in Accra in gated communities with extras. Even though I must say that you didn’t come across that way at all….but everyone else does.

    • @myssdarknluvly
      @myssdarknluvly  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hear you. Ghana is huge and there's a space for everyone. I think it seems like there's only 2 extreme ends of the financial spectrum but there are many people in between who are doing just fine and finding their balance. But I do feel that they reflect only a small portion of the population. Ultimately, everyone just fits where they can afford and live how they know best.

  • @iandodoo821
    @iandodoo821 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great video. My parents recently retired in Ghana. They don’t have rent or mortgage as they built their house. Currently I sent them $1300 per month which they say is tight. Would you agree with this? It’s just the two of them.

    • @myssdarknluvly
      @myssdarknluvly  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm not sure what you're parent's lifestyle is like or where they live but $1300 is more than enough for my family. You're cost of living is directly influenced by your lifestyle so If you want to live as close and comfortable as you do abroad, you're going to spend more. For example, if you live close to the airport or East Legon, expect to pay more for everything. If you have AC, washers and dryers, expect to pay more in electricity and water. Drinking bottled water or sachet water. So many different factors. And then there's the constant price increase for goods and services.

    • @salmahsjourney3801
      @salmahsjourney3801 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I honestly think you survive making that kind of money. It all depends on your lifestyle. The Internet can be pricey, especially for those working virtually. I've heard of people spending a couple hundred dollars per month on the best Internet. With proper planning and research, you can make your move a reality. 👍🏾👊🏾🙂

    Question: We just moved to Accra, Oct. 2023. the person that shops for food spends $100 weekly, 4 people. is this a reasonable cost for normal food shopping,? we do not go out to eat!

    • @myssdarknluvly
      @myssdarknluvly  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know the cost of food has gone up since I made this video but 1100 cedis per week on food for a household of 4 sounds steep. But I'm curious what type of food is being cooked weekly. Local foods are a bit cheaper to prepare but foreign food ingredients can be pretty expensive. Is that cost including transportation? I used to buy the groceries myself sometimes or w lolould go with my nanny so I was aware of the prices too.
