    I personally wouldn’t replace the counters. If you do I would go quartz but I like your current ones and don’t necessarily think you’d get the money back out for new ones

  • @Tchanson
    @Tchanson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Keep in mind if you get quartz it can't handle heat like granite can so you'll need to use things under your pans, crock pot, etc every time. My brother's quartz cracked from the heat of a crock pot being on it. Marble isn't recommended for kitchens as it can stain and etch with any acidic food. I think your granite is great but it's your house!

    The racks of the oven can be cleaned with just aluminum foil. Just put it together to a small ball and rub over the dirt. No water, no cleaning supplies, just the aluminum foil.

    Make sure to occasionally clean the top of your upper cabinets! You’d be surprised how much grease etc gets up there! When we bought and renovated our foreclosure and went to clean/salvage the cabinet frames it was obvious the previous owners never did it and let me tell you 🤢 there was about 2 inches of lord knows what up there

    I clean homes for a living and I learned this trick from my mom. On the glass in the oven while the cleaner is on there, carefully take a razor blade and scrape the grease. Then wipe with the sponge. Repeat with the blade if you still see those little grease spots. Glass will come out so clean.

    Hi! Just a quick note: to store raw meat/chicken in the fridge, it's a good idea to sit it into a container first rather than straight into the shelf. Just to avoid bacteria spread. I usually just use a glass baking dish and set the pack of meat into it if I know I'm not freezing it right away. Just because chicken can spread salmonella and other foods in the fridge can get contaminated. 🙂
    I love how organized the fridge turned out. Gotta get me some more containers!

    • @louiedd18
      @louiedd18 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! I put my meat in a glass container then put the whole container in a freezer bag. I do not want any raw meat juices getting in my fridge. It’s also gross when ppl touch raw meat and touch cupboards or fridge without washing their hands thoroughly with soap as their just contaminating the whole kitchen.

    I saw on another channel they bought some type of silicone (or something similar) oven mat for the bottom of the oven that doesn't melt but catches all the gunk that falls and you can pull that out and wash it with soap and water to keep your actual oven clean. I haven't tried it myself yet but it looks really useful!

  • @libertylane35

    I wouldn’t replace the countertops if I were you. It’s crazy expensive and really won’t add that much value since you already have granite countertops. Also it really won’t change the look of the house that much. We just bought granite counter tops and our kitchen is smaller than yours with a 2 seater island and we spent $3200 in granite! So expensive.

    I bought my house with quartz countertop and it's the best. They can't handle hot pans on top of them you would need to get pot holders. They are super easy to clean and up keep.

    • @maryamaziz3367
      @maryamaziz3367 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Someone commented that their brother's cracked with just a crock pot. Can that actually happen? Or do you use the pot holders only for the hot pots? What about like a hot cup or plate?

    • @carissamcalary5836
      @carissamcalary5836 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have put hot cups and hot plates out of the microwave one the counter top and no damage. I have even put a hot pot on my counter by accent and nothing happened. When we bought the house the builders told us to use pot holders for pots and pans cause it could crank or discolor the finish. But cups and plates should be fine.

    • @maryamaziz3367
      @maryamaziz3367 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carissamcalary5836 Thank you for your response, I also bought a new build and I was worried about that. They even say it discolors easily so you have to wipe immediately anything that can stain. Have you had issues with that? Like spilled hot sauces or something like that

  • @jazzyj4765
    @jazzyj4765 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    We have the same builder grade granite countertops as you. Our kitchen is about the same size as yours and we're getting new granite countertops. We plan on trying to sell what we can. That way, we're saving money.
    If you do get new countertops do not go with marble. You have to seal it about once a month, it stains, and it's just not a good idea in the kitchen. Also, quartz can get scratches and knicks in it very easily.
    Between our sink and granite always gets buildup. We clean ours every time we do dishes. Only takes about 1 minute and saves a lot of time if you let it buildup.
    As far as your oven racks, use a brillo pad and hot water. It gets everything off and they look brand new. I'd clean your oven about once a month, so it's easier.

    If you use that oven spray on the wracks .. like spray the oven with the wracks inside so that they are also sprayed on, all the stuff stuck on the wracks will come off just like in the oven. There may me hard stuck on spots but majority of it will come off. That's what I do with mine. ❤

    Do you happen to know which fridge you have? Is it loud? I’m in the market for one but I have no idea what I’m doing cause we have only had a basic fridge. Also... stainless steal scrubbing pads for your oven! They are only a dollar or $2. I use them and they don’t scratch and get up everything. Brillo pads might work too, a little softer.

    Frank & Britney, I’m here to tell you about a serious oven life saver/oven hack! Don’t know if you’ve heard about this thing that you can buy to protect the bottom/base of the oven but basically it is this black sheet thingy..I think if you search for “non stick oven safe liners” it will bring them up. Basically place on the base of the oven so in the future when you get leaks and drips off of food that’s cooking, the bottom/base of your oven is protected and you’ll find you won’t have to scrub ever again 👍🏻😀 x x

    I have gray and white Venato Quartzite countertops (the natural quartz stone). It is stunning, I'm obsessed, and it's the most durable countertop you can get. I don't see the point of quartz unless you go straight white. It looks so fake (because it is) and you pay an absolute premium for a countertop that is fabricated. I would definitely say quartzite if you do replace. Honestly, it won't add much value though it would just be personal taste.

    Put a rack on the bottom of your oven and wrap it in tin foil! It’ll catch all the drips
