It is impossible to answer this question because there's so many choices but lately I've started to really like Andrew Scheps Omni Channel. And for instruments; a sampler for percussion and drums, then well... what is wanted/needed at the time of production. Plugins for mixing/masterbus depends on the production/music type.
magnificent 🤩 I could listen to you both for hours! thank you very much for this interview and the look behind the scenes of these milestones in music history 🙏🏻
Sorry for the double post, but Joe Chicarelli rules. I love his approach to getting his sounds to fit together in the recording stage. As someone who writes, records, and mixes my own music, I've never thought of them as separate processes. A lot of music production channels still treat them that way though. I don't find it applicable.
Thanks!! I have a question: Why is the NS10 tweeter taped off? One of mine doesn't work well anymore, so is it worth it to just tape both tweeters off?

cool episode, nice plugin as well. You should feature Robin Reumers from leapwing on the channel as well, such a nice and skillful man. And have you tried the new make believe studio plugins?
Presets get a bad rep. I don't always use them, but they can be a great starting point. Sometimes, when I'm searching for a sound I might not know exactly what I'm looking for. Presets can get me close to it without having to waste a lot of time tweaking knobs. Granted, they're only worthwhile on certain plugins. I would never bother with a preset on an EQ. Same with a limiter or compressor. But on reverbs, delays, amp sims, synths, etc. they can be amazing. Sometimes they can even lead you to choose a sound you never would have thought of.
@@Producelikeapro Thanks warren I remember being in Parr Street studios in Liverpool with a friends band in the late 1990s, Coldplay where in there in another studio just as they had been signed, they had SN 10s in there, and some in my college when I done my degree in music tech, but I never seen that paper being taped on them before.
@@Producelikeapro You do? I have only seen the "Rate my mix" livestream, maybe that's the same? In that case I would have sent my new song/track. Well, I'll have to wait for the next one if that's the case. Thanks for answering, Warren.

Tie between SSL-G channel and Waves WILM Meter. They are the two essential things on my mix buss. If I had just one to pick, I'd take the WILM Meter.

Great interview!
Joe is amazing isn’t he Emiliano!
Thanks!! I have a question: Why is the NS10 tweeter taped off? One of mine doesn't work well anymore, so is it worth it to just tape both tweeters off?
It’s just to reduce the excessive high end. You’ll still need both tweeters to work properly
@@Producelikeapro Thanks for the response! Luckily I have some working kh310's as well, haha!

16:48 onwards (clean outro guitar) - unfortunately the Pro Tools output is muted, only hearing Joe's commentary.
i was wondering as well what was happening. copyright issue maybe?

Happy to use presets if it gets me there quicker!
Why is there a piece of paper taped over the tweeter of that sn10 behind joe?
It reduces the high end on ten tweeter. Quite a few people did that on the original speakers

@@johng7423 it was fairly common in the ‘80s. Not so much now though
I want to hear him talk about Y Kant Tori Read!
Very interesting indeed
Around 1:20 Joe was talking about Daking and at 1:30 he starts talking about Bob Clearmountain with no transition. Was a clip inadvertently deleted?
I was just about to comment on that.
No, I just think they are secretly the same person. At least that’s what I’ve been told.. 🤥
Hey Warren; how about a "Rate My Production" live stream? (of course with mixed tracks)
Yes! We do a once a month Academy live stream where we review everyone’s production

Yes! He does! Seems to work great for him!
im sure its a great product but there is some technical issues with the plugin demo.
