This is likely I think. I also found it interesting how much Macaque fears dying (I watched the whole show including season 3). I guess being normally immortal, perhaps the thought of actually dying would scare you. But also-he mentions having been killed (or nearly killed?) before, so this would imply that the event was very traumatic and why he does everything he can to avoid getting even close to death ever again, even if it costs him his freedom (like how he was working for LBD in exchange for her not killing him).
I'm not sure how much the LMK crew is taking from The Journey to the West story, but, in it, Macaque impersonates SWK and ends up being killed by him, so there's that.
So I don't think Macaque was immortal. He was just a normal fighter in the beginning when he fought along side Wukong. Macaque and Wukongs relationship gets strained, turning into resentment, and then we have Macaque vs Wukong, where Wukong in a fit of rage and maybe even impulsiveness, kills Macaque. Macaque's spirit was holding onto all the fear, resentment, and sadness, which is where LBD found him, she offered him a chance at life again in exchange for his service, which he then immediately double crossed once he was given life again. Only once he took out MKs powers in his reveal episode did he probably actually receive immortality from Wukongs powers. (Sorry, that was a lot to cover, and most is my own theory on what happened so as the creator said, take it with a grain of salt.)
@Crazyaxolotl7673 so technically both is correct. I found this directly from the LMK wiki "Macaque is ageless and immortal, able to live out the centuries. However, he is still vulnerable to death and can fall in battle." So he is immortal in the sense he can't die from old age, but he is still able to die.
You know what I think. Maybe if they give Macaque a redemption arc, help him try to make friends and trust people again somehow. Maybe even a love interest. It might help him get over his issues with Monkey King and become a better person then he is now
With all of season 4 finaly being out (& it being the reason Shadowpeach actually feels plausible to me) I was wondering if maybe we could hear your thoughts on Macaque with all this new info. If that's okay.

I really like your theory I enjoyed it and the way u lay out the facts is really convincing ! But if macaque is a clone why didn't wukong get rid of him like the other copies ? Did he forget him in a fight then he enveloped ? And back in jttw sun wukong killed macaque and we know that it happened in monkie kid universe as he says in season 4 "I've had a taste of dying and it's not very fun" Then if he was killed how did he come back?
Hey are you ever going to do Raphael from the 2012 or ROTTMNT. I find his character to be interesting because of how I acted when I was younger. I turned my fear into anger when I was little because of a messed up home life.
