- Final video of building this Jeep 5.0 stroker from my old 4.0 Jeep Grand Cherokee engine. Last time on the build I got held up by some product defects which I explain. Now I have most all the parts to get this engine finished up ready for start up in next video!!

Rhodes lifters were very popular back in 60s 70s . They won't fully pump up till the motor rpm is above 2800 rpm or so thus meaning you could run a very high lift and high duration cam without it effecting the vacuum at idle nor did you need a high stall torque converter because you could get the high lift cam to idle at a much lower rpm than you would running non Rhodes lifters

Newcomer racing makes a spacer for the valve cover itll bump it up a little higher. Just a thought. Cant wait to hear it run.
New business idea: a day with dex. We'll have a few different packages. A day in the shop, a day in the yard, a day on the trails or a day with the bouncer.
On my 4.6 the rod caps didn't start making contact with the girdle until the motor was hot. Scared the crap out of me, thought it was rod knock. Make sure you get a decent clearance because things expand :).
Then you get self clearance at that point!

I always soak my lifters in oil overnight before installing them

when you paint a hemi hemi orange you have to paint silver for the color to be correct
They make valve cover spacers for 4.0s
Dex that 4.0 turned 5.0 inline 6 is looking fn fantastic.. All those new internals look sweet n beefy.. Sadly tho noone sees that stuff besides in these videos but you know you have all the good stuff jammed inside.. Thats horrible the piston manufacturer wouldnt take accountability for the messed up pistons & tried to just blame you for messing them up. Specially bc they aren't cheap pistons.. Even tho we all can clearly see that those f-ups were manufacturer caused & could not have been caused by someone dropping them..
Oh so injust thought of this you should leave the 4.0 on the valve cover so it appears to be something its not you know sneaky sleeper racecar type things.. Cant wait to hear that thing running..
If you decide to go full standalone ecm and fuel injection look up flyinryan down in georgia
Hard land sharp rocker fit under a stock cover with the baffles out. How I have mine. Killer video!! Keep it up
Opening on c-clips for pistons should point up or down. If it’s to the side, they can compress during higher RPM’s and come out.

When I was my dad's apprentice we used Lucas assembly lube, but nothing sat for long periods.
Head hasket has no bearing on displacement.
Doesn't the head gasket thickness as small as it is cause the compression ratio to slightly change? Not sure about the actual displacement but the compression ratio would/could slightly change depending on gasket thickness?
@@danafaulhaber334 compression ratio yes, displacement no. I believe the conversation followed the lines of different head gaskets making in a 4.8, 4.9 or 5.0. To which the thickness of the head gasket changes not.

Since you don’t know what you’re putting it in, either primer it then paint it before you install it or just pick a neutral color, like black or silver or something like that

I got a 4.7l stroker engine and it puts out 245 with a stock cam, head and exhaust. I bet with a nice cam it'll really wake up huh. It has 10.1 to compression ratio. Thought about a small turbo or gm supercharger. I'll prolly never do any of that lol. It's nice to think about tho

I don’t think that paint is gonna last, didn’t look like engine paint to me. But brass freeze plugs would have made that paint really pop.

@justdexit did you use a 4.2 or a 4.0 piston? Ive heard that the wristpin height is preferable on a 4.2 piston, 4.0 con rod, 4.2 crank combo. I'm a week away from going home and start ordering parts for my stroker going in a 87 YJ.

What oil are you gonna run in it? I ended up using amsoil z rod. It's expensive to me but i love my xj lol
