    I've learned so much from your videos, they are fantastic! I'm new at drawing sketch up, mostly used Auto Cad before but, with your help, this is much better. I'm looking for Michael Brightmon's book too.

      In my opinion, Brightman has the best workflow for keeping your model organized for Layout - his SketchUp Workflow for Architecture book is excellent. If you're modeling for Layout, you'll save a lot of time if you can group and layer your models as you go. Once you start setting your models up this way, it becomes a habit and this becomes a lot easier. Thanks for watching!

    Perfect. Thank you for another Interior Design series video! Looking forward to the continuation!
    A question: What is the best practice to easily control wall hight of multiple walls - to be able to see the content of the rooms that are not visible because of walls (especially side rooms when in some certain view perspectives). I've seen others cutting all interior walls in half of hight - just for demonstration purposes. I thought of section plane feature, but it cuts walls so they are hollow and it does not look nice. What is the best solution? By the way, is there a way to set model variables, e.g. set wall height = X and apply this X to all walls, and then somewhere control the X value. I experimented and achieved similar result by putting walls into a Component and then applying "LenZ" attribute to the component. But is it the only/the best way? Thanks once again!

    I'm learning SketchUp and have an AutoCad background (added this comment so you would understand my 'layer' question!). I'm wondering why you would 'group' the furniture together when you plan to have them on the same 'layer' anyway - allowing you to turn them off and on easily by layer? Once you've grouped them, you cannot move them independently of one another, correct? So after I've placed the sofa in the LR and the beds in the BR and grouped them - if I adjust my sofa a bit in location - won't the beds move too? Or is it to prevent their geometry from joining an adjacent object? Another great video - Thanks Justin!

      Hi Jody! Usually the idea is that instead of putting every single object on a layer, you can instead put the furniture group on a layer, and you don't have to manage the layer that each individual object is on. Plus, this way it's much easier to keep your model organized using the outliner. It's kind of like putting a bunch of toys in a box, then putting that box on a layer, instead of each individual toy (I have no idea if that's a helpful analogy :) ). You can still move the objects within the group individually, just make sure that you double click inside the group before moving them around. Does that make sense?

      @@Thesketchupessentials Yes - Thank You! Double-clicking is what I was missing ;) And yes - toy box analogy worked well!

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm...not that I'm aware of. You might be able to generate these using repeated components, or maybe something like Sandbox tools with an extension like Multiple Offset to offset your faces for extrusion with the push/pull tool? Let me know if any of those seem like they would help. Thanks!
