Budget Overlanding Trip to San Francisco

We took our last trip together before I(Ashley) leave for deployment and we chose San Francisco. We wanted to see the city but we also didn't want to spend too much money. So first we chose to drive the Mini Cooper instead of the Jeep. So choosing smaller gear for camping and eating fast food was the way to go. Maybe not the healthiest way but it was cheap. Second, we chose our first camping spot with IOverlander app and counted our change and off we went headed to the Golden gate. Third, we did things in San Francisco that didn't cost too much money. We even had enough points for one night free in a hotel. So this was definitely a cheap trip. We budgeted each meal and stuck to it the best we could. Gas was definitely cheaper, since the Mini can handle a whomping 30 mpg. San Francisco is a beautiful place to see and you definitely can see iconic places with no cost. Fun and inexpensive, so stress was low and the challenge kept us focused. The most we spent our hard earned money on was Alcatraz, but we budgeted that into the equation.
