Well, you had me with the vanity mirror for the ladies on the Hilux. I also love the overshare regarding Madam, and the man from Croatia 🇭🇷. I always feel like I'm sat on a dirty office chair drinking tea from an oily mug and watching you take stuff apart whilst having a lovely chat. My idea of bliss!
I had a 1995 ZX Avantage and it definitely had central locking. The plipper was a separate item on the key ring rather than built in to the key. On mine the solenoid in the driver’s door failed and stopped the central locking. I ended up replacing three of them, they were pennies in the day and took about 30 minutes to replace.
The Hilux is gonna be a smart truck when finished, the Citroen could be repaired and sold to Hubnut, and that is one lucky Transit having that level of restoration work! Can't wait for the next video!
Todays plan fix citreon put mot on it buy it an fotu ticket stick it up for raffle and who ever wins can come and join us for the weekend, (keep citreon obviously) hopefully we should have quite a line of 6d wagons 👍
I’ve got a matching Avantage, auto (hatch). It’s the best. I just bought a DS3 so my son can learn in it (manual) and wow, do I miss the ZX drive! He’s sat up for a few months but I can’t wait to get back to it! I got it when it was actually scrapped (I DID do a HPI 😂), off road for 16 years. Fought with DVLA, got it re-registered and spent a tonne on recommission because I expect it to last my lifetime 😂 Got it on 30k, now on 40. Hope it works out. Estates are so rare. Someone would love that if you do sell on. 😊
That Hilux is absolutely awesome. I remember walking to school years ago seeing a Hilux Surf with all the 90s graphics. Just thought it was the coolest thing. Love the videos Al and fudge. Hands down one of the best TH-camrs on here. You make everyone's Sunday just a bit better.
We had an L reg 306 with the same engine as that Citroen. I nursed it for 180k miles. Slow yes, but it ran and ran. Can Fudgy to fix the door - deserves to be saved. More top quality entertainment.
Couldn’t ask for better content, this is literally my favourite channel. You both are so entertaining to watch. The Hilux wow, what a machine, will be buying tickets. Got my tickets for the BMW 🤞🏻. Did laugh, that is what I call Citroens……no offence to anyone who has one 😬
You could see if Hubnut would swap his Berlingo for the ZX. He said he's thinking of finding a lower mileage Berlingo for towing. The ZX is halfway there...
Honestly, i love the way you just crack on Al , to see a man enjoy what he is doing is a joy . The green truck looks perfectly happy and willing to me , give the green thing a wash tye road salt will do it no good water + salt no good .
Good stuff you bought another Hilux although it is diesel and an automatic and in great condition and Citroen diesel and the Citroen runs and drives definitely a FOTU contender
Great treasure. Surprised that Surfs are now so rare - all scrapped or re-exported? The ZX would make a good raffle prize if UpnDown or Hubnut (to replace his Berlingo) doesn't want it. Silverlake occasionally has very cheap Rovers - if you could find one, eg R8, with a Peugeot diesel in it...
Great content Al, 2012 doesn't seem that long ago to me nowadays. I remember the ZX appearing at my local Citroen dealership, still looks a nice car today.
Nice bits of treasure this week, the ZX would be a classic. I’ve got a 1996 mondeo V6 ghia X estate with only 54.000 it was sat for 12 years in a dry garage and I saved it from going to scrap, after sorting New keys, fuel pump and Tyres and now been in road and I’ll take it to Car shows as a classic and tell Caravan with it
Never have I been so excited at the start of a you tube video ! Keep yer lambos that is my perfect truck ❤ I'm currently trying to get my ageing mk3 surf ready for an mot but it's fighting me by trying to shed its axle ! The self lightning has gotten serious ! Will you take a trade in ? 😂 For sure I'm buying tickets and coming down for tea and biscuits before driving it home to Scotland 😊
Tell fudgey about the Milwaukee fleeces you get . They are heated and use the hand lamp batteries . They are brilliant! Mine lasts all day on one battery
Lovely Hilux, I have a 1996 Hilux Surf, cranks but doesn't start. Ran for a while after we changed the cambelt and water pump, then no start. Changed the glow plugs and she started and drove for a while but now no start. Hard to find good people to help these days too, wish I was near Dorset, 😨!
Brought back memories mentioning pajero pump seal 😄 I like the hilux it's a nice truck I wish you well with it , There's nothing produced like it now days and we won't see the likes of 80s 90s Japanese 4x4s again . Myself I'm still running a 1998 pajero flared arch 2.8, had it 19 years and hanging on to it 😄 . Love the channel nice to see a proper old school workshop 👍🏼
I feel your pain pulling that pump. Did a leaky O ring on a Surf 2.4 turbo years ago … what a faff it is pulling stuff off to get the pump out. Has it had a new head? Loads of them cracked when 1st imported… you can tell if it’s a new head, they all dribble a bit of oil at the front just above the pump.
Had 2 of those in the 90's. Great wee cars, but annoyingly no temp gauge on the poverty spec hatchback ones I had. Loads of torque but always sound like a bag of spanners till they warm up, a keeper for sure!! Really takes me back looking round it, thanks guys!👍
Love the hilux, Toyota at their best, definitely buy a couple of tickets for this one. Great video as usual, I really admire the way you get stuck in rather than spending an entire video talking like some other channels 👏👏👏👏
52 minutes of brilliant entertainment, that Toyota is really nice, interesting hearing about some of your pre you tube life, shame it's only Wednesday and Sunday videos, but you have a business to run, take care guys, looking forward to Wednesday already.
Loving the Hilux Al, she's a real gem, you talking about the 2.4's cracking heads, and you having worked on Pajeros, the 4m40 2.8, of which I own one, are also well known for cracking heads if people dont flush the cooling system properly. Also had to have the front pump seal done as you described. The Pajeros are a cracking motor though, I've had mine since 2012 and she's still going strong, not the quickest, but will pull just about anything...will get meself a ticket for the raffle as I quite fancy a pickup...keep up the good work gents.
A very Warm and Good morning to You Al and Fudgy. Another Excellent Professional Production from this Wonderful Channel Al. Liking the Hilux very much. Top Quality SUV. Loving the Gorgeous Blue she has been painted with. 6D Diesels just seems to get better and better. It is very Good that you are doing these Raffles Al. What a Stunning and Beautiful vehicle the BMW is. I Totally do agree with you Al, when you said about what the vehicle is worth. It does not matter in any way, shape or form. You really are doing Great Al and Fudgy. That was really a Good Purchase you made of the French Beauty that just needs a little bit of TLC. Well done Al and Fudgy. Jonathan.
This comment is off topic, but I really need some advice with my om611. I changed the turbo as it made horrible screeching noises every time it went into boost, re sealed the high pressure diesel pump, cleaned the injector nozzles, seats and replaced all the orings and gaskets around the diesel lines, intake and exhaust manifolds as they were all really olds and hard. The car ran bad most of the time but after the high pressure pump rebuild it could atleast hit the limited in neutral, before I would loose cylinders at around 4000rpm. It still sporadically lost cylinders and died so I thought of rail pressure loss and replaced the regulator with an original Bosch unit. Now the car runs better, sometimes I even can pull a their gear without smoke or weird sounds and no power loss but often it goes into EPC electric power control shortly after. The worst thing though is, that in first, and sometimes second gear, especially at low load low speed driving it still tends to loose cylinders and die, in those moments it also tends to knock a lot, either from the injectors themselves or the combustion chambers, horrible noises… I’m thinking the rail pressure sensor could be faulty, with it unplugged it still runs (presumably on a base map), just the injectors get noisier, but even so it still tends to die. I still wasn’t able to read the ecu as it needs a OBD 1 reader, I already tried with 3 different OBD 2 readers with a OBD to 38 pin adapter but nothing could establish communication with the car. Let me know if you have any ideas what the issue could be, the thing that confuses me the most is that it looses cylinders but that might be normal if the injectors don’t get enough pressure to operate correctly
@@yannicg it shouldn’t run with the rail sensor unplugged at all, do all sound line a rail pressure or injector loom fault. Until you can have a chat with the ecu your clutching at straws really 👍
You know i love you tube and the things people get up to on here its brilliant , size 9 shoes born december 1977, I woild put a banana in for scale but cant post photos on you tube comments 😆

Great video Al! It would be really great to see more closeups when you are working in the bonnet of vehicles as sometimes it's hard to actually know what is happening when the camera is so far away. The TH-cam channel Mustie1 has awesome examples of showing the practical side when working on things which is definitely worth a look if you haven't seen him before! Your Sunday videos and his make for a great Sunday afternoon sofa session!
Oh no! i've got the perfect companion for the ZX, it's an Island Plastics Romini caravan that I took to Rustival last year, so i will have to bid on that too if it finds its way to Raffall
