What a beautiful arrangement. The way he brings the melody across from the trombones to the saxes and to the trumpets, it's simply amazing. If only there were more arrangers like Goodwin...

@@applepieisgud8780 that won’t go well with the other trumpets playing above the lead line. This chart requires a strong lead player, so I’d see it more suited for college as opposed to high school in most situations.
@@ankushparmar2662That sax soli is definitely up there in difficulty to nail as a section. Everyone needs to be in sync with articulations in a multi measure 16th note run or it sounds like garbage if even one of the five is off.
@@andonmefford9142 the notes and rhythms aren’t insane, but if it’s badly blended, and the leads don’t project and play their part, it doesn’t sound good.

Alan Baylock would like to know your location
The first trumpet is absolutely incredible.
Pretty sure it’s Wayne Bergeron
@@azxtnt i would assume so; since this is a goodwin chart, it’s likely played by his big phat band

playing this for jazz band this year, 10/10 piece, its so fun to play
Same!
Love the piano solo
That Sax Soli is NUTS 2:43
Cool bari part.
If you don't have a high note trumpet player, forget it. Nothing sounds worse than badly intonated high trumpet.
Or you can just take it down an octave
Won't sound as good
that a high B no?

@@ColinMroczko Take the other trumpets down an octave.
3:30 is unbelievable
Holy crap this is awesome
Altos tone so good
Clever arranger
how is this a grade five its so easy 1:54 2:40 ... nvm
I feel like the only grade 5 part is Trumpet 1 with a high section the player also needs to have in tune and nail the articulations.
And the sax soli, but usually trumpet 1 is the hardest part of any jazz song

@@zackwoods5077 yea thats true
Change the playback speed, it’s great
Grade 5!? What this is too easy it's not grade fi-
(High E trumpet)
Oh ok now I get it.
that sax soli too 2:50
How is this grade 5?
There’s 6 grades in difficulty. This is grade 5 so it’s pretty hard
Because if it’s not blended right and the leads don’t project like they need to, combined with bad 2nd chair and plus, it will sound bad.
The sax soli is quite hard, and you really need a great T1 and T2 to pull this off.
i was questioning how this is grade 5 until the grade 5 came out
2:57
Grade 5?
Bulby Gump there’s 6 grades in difficulty, and this is the 5th hardest. It’s pretty hard for an average high school jazz bans
DuckMaster there are only 6 official grades.
I was thinking the same thing. It's really not that difficult
