I know you can't answer everyone, but I'm going nuts. Trying to find your video, with the rock area, where the rock looks just like Fleek, from The Never Ending Story. I'm hoping you would remember which video it was in. There's so many good videos from you. I thought I got a picture of it, but I must not have taken the screenshot. Thanks for the videos.

Was just in that area on vacation. My husband and I went to Arch Rock Canyon with its arch, Crow Canyon with the petroglyphs, Kutz Canyon with Angel Peak, Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness, Aztec National Monument and Chaco Canyon. We drove our 4Runner with our tear drop trailer all the way from Wisconsin. …it all was so amazing! We love watching your adventures.
So I work in the Oil Parch lol that “ pump Jack” you showed is an old old one! The pill shaped green vessel looked like a glycol unit used to heat the gas and oil to help them separate. The little building was a “ meter shack” it houses the gas meter.
People have already, torn down a few of these arches. They are leasing these lands out to oil companies and it's disgusting! Take a look at Oklahoma and Texas, on Google Earth, and you can see the difference. It's undeniable, when you see it from space!
That soul sucking mud is caliche clay. Famous for stranding many unaware visitors. Glad that you made it out ok and thankyou for the beautiful shots of the arches!
Your 100 series appears to be set up similar to my 2000. 285 tires, running board delete, and a bit of lift. A great set up that balances on road manners and off road ability. Hope you are enjoying yours as much as I do mine. Great rig for fishing too!
Such enjoyable, intelligent, and, at times, humorous videos. I’ve been following you for years and your videos continue to entertain and educate. Thank you for sharing so many amazing places with those of us unable to access these treasures!
Good morning ! Mud ruts can be decieving glad you didn't get stuck. All that red dirt turns into a thick clay when it's hit with precipitation. Beautiful country up there. Your videos always give me the wanderlust.
From what I've been researching, Farmington seems like an amazing launching point for many adventures. I'm headed that way in a few weeks to spend about 10 days exploring these lesser known treasures. Thank for the camping spot references.
There are some fantastic ruins in Aztec, NM which is close to all of these arches. Definitely worth checking out. I think it's a state park, right on the edge of town.
I visited a number of arches in the Aztec area more than 10 years ago, including the Cox Canyon Arch. As I recall, there was no defined trail to that arch, you just found the "best" way up the gentle cliff. Also nearby, Bisti badlands, Angel Peak and Largo Canyon. All are worth a visit, so I hope you plan to. Enjoy this type of video quite a lot. Good work.
Nice video Tristan. I live, work and play in the area, the noisy machinery you heard were compressors that are used to pressurize the natural gas so that it will flow through the pipes.
I have learned the hard way to stay off the New Mexico dirt roads when they are wet. The clay based mud is the worst situation my Subaru has been through. It sticks to the tires and is slick. Sometimes, you really do need to get out of your vehicle and give the mud hole you are about to go over a serious consideration. I can relate to your experiences in New Mexico. 😊
I took my Mazda 3 on these roads five years ago in August when they were dry. It was still quite the adventure making sure I kept enough speed to make it through some of the deep sand areas.
So...the RAV probably wouldn't have made it? 😊 I'm fascinated by all the arches. Mother Nature is the gift that keeps on giving! Also, the early morning light on that first arch location was stunning! I always appreciate your videography. ❤
Well a Saturday & two of my favorite, yours and Dana Hollister's. I gotta say you gave a great tutorial on why to avoid dirt roads during or after rain! Those 3 Arches were unknown to me & a mini Arches NP for sure. The first one reminded me of a squat Delicate Arch & the last one was impressive. It's been quite a few years since I've hit New Mexico so this terrific. I do recall Ventana Arch & the thought provoking Chaco Canyon on my last trip there. Your videos always propel me to see more. 5 stars out of 5!
We went to that first arch with my daughter two years ago. So awesome. And no crowd. We were able to drive closer and we saw a badger along the way. It looks like Delicate Arch. But again, no circus. I hope it stays that way.
I grew up in that area (Bloomfield) and never knew about those arches. I will definitely go visit them next time I go down. oh and also grab a burger from Blake's Lotaburger. mmm
I just had a hip replacement so watching you effortlessly climb around like that made me envious! Beautiful, but horrid noise from the equipment. 'Forgotten little brother of Arches National Park'.
The noise is unfortunate, but if the choice is between visiting the area and seeing beautiful things and not visiting the area and not seeing those things, I'll deal with the noise.
Thankfully when I went to that area to stay at the Angel Peak Scenic Area the roads were DRY. I need to remember this experience you had and tame my confidence.
I love the Farmington/Aztec area of New Mexico. The proximity to Colo, Utah, Arizona and all the sites therein is just perfect! Really enjoyed your video, as always. Keep on exploring Tristan!
Once again, great video Tristan! Those muddy roads always gets your heart racing a little bit...part fun and part fear. Not so much the fear of getting stuck, but fear of having to tell my wife that I got stuck. lol

When you get a chance - wash it by hand using a bucket and ph neutral car soap. Then - get some P&S Beadmaker. Spray on dry paint, let it sit for a minute, wipe off. It's the fastest/laziest form of paint protection. Then - that mud will fly off much faster/easier when you high pressure rinse. You'll also notice a lot less will stick to it to begin with. Beadmaker lasts about 6 weeks... there are other fast ceramic sprays as well.
I would have removed the branch and sticks poking up in that thick mud, if possible. Those can do some damage, believe it or not. Beautiful arch, though! And you pointing out how close Colorado is explains why it reminded me of that state!😊

Farmington is a sneaky good starting point to adventures in just about any direction from the town. I've got friends there so I've visited a couple times in the past year, finding several neat spots within an hour of town. And of course the greater four corners region is an easy drive away.
I’ve been to that one a couple times (2:50) looks like you caught it on a good day. Frequently there are beer cans and other party debris all around. Btw: I walked in, didn’t try to drive closer.
Good finds, Tristan! I just moved from Texas to Las Cruces to be closer to all this New Mexico landscape treats! In the northwest there, you are most likely aware of wonders like Chaco, Bisti, etc. One spot going south that surprised me recently is Angel Peak Rec Area east off of Hwy 550, about 15 miles south of Bloomfield. I don’t know of any arches, but it’s a lovely large area of impressive badlands that I didn’t know was there, having passed it by many times. I can relate to the mud drive. I was in a 2wd (!) Ford Ranger one year and tried to go south out of Chaco Canyon after it had rained. Slippery mud like that all the way to Seven Lakes and beyond. I knew if I stopped at any point, I’d be stuck for good. Only stalled once and was able to rock the truck back into motion, but what a chancy drive that was. Live and learn!
Excellent video... great photography. So interesting to see so many of those arches that are off and away from the closer more accessible ones. What a great scenic adventure you provide for all who may be confined to their home PC screens. Have you ever been to Dulce, New Mexico... and considered hiking the Archuleta Mesa area?
@@SUVRVing Great! But be sure to do your research about the area before you go... especially about Phil Schneider who once lived in Wilsonville, Oregon. Once upon a time on a road trip through the area... I met a local pottery artist Sheldon Nunez-Velarde... who kindly helped me as a brief tour guide of sorts. Ask the locals where you might find him...

The campsite at the end of this video is at the edge of the Angel Peak badlands 😁 And yikes, I'm glad you and the Ranger made it out of there alive!
Hello, I'm happy to see you are in New Mexico, because I've never been there. I'm also thankful to see wet soil from rain. Excellent video.
New Mexico is a great state. It feels very different from its neighbors!
Treat yourself with an on board winch. 🙂….unless you LIKE hairy adventures. 😉😉😏
Love your videos! Thanks for sharing. ❤❤
I might get one eventually. We'll see. Thanks Lori!
Wow! A lot like Delicate Arch. The road was definitely a muddy mess.
Definitely reminiscent of Delicate Arch. Thanks John!
Nope, I haven't, but I just added it to my list. Thanks!
