We had ice down here in southern Wisconsin last week and I got out on about four inches of ice, now most of it is gone. I call it bonus fishing, it's the ONLY time in my entire 39 years of existence that I was able to ice fish BEFORE deer season! My earliest ever before this was Thanksgiving morning!
Great start to the season gentlemen! Hopefully the ice will be back in a couple weeks!
Glad to see the "Spot on the Spot" segment! I like watching people catch fish. However, getting some education on where to look on a body of water and how to attack it is what keeps me coming back. I'd love to continue seeing more "classroom" style segments. Thanks for all you do!

I really like your shows I like the fact how you go into detail you really teach me a lot of things. Hopefully one day I'll be back out on the ice soon someone stolen all my ice fishing stuff a couple years ago and I haven't replaced everything and this year I had knee surgery on October 29 so I'm still in pain. Really like you show thanks for your tips
I was on first ice on November 2nd just south of Casper Wyoming. It was only a small section of Pathfinder reservoir that was frozen. I caught 1 22" rainbow and missed 2 walleye. I was surprised to catch anything because the frozen section is just a huge sand flat. So pumped for this ice season. James, show Wyoming some love! We get ice out here and have good fishing all over. I might head out today and see if I can get out on Boysen reservoir for crappie.

I really considered getting that Eskimo Apex but I had to go with an Otter X-over because of the side doors. That Eskimo looks great otherwise.

Got out yesterday. Ice is still a little sketchy but good to get ice time in before Thanksgiving. It's going to be warm all week so ice isn't going to get better for while. Oh well

Very surprising to me that Otter ended the business relationship, I can’t think of a more effective way to market a product than this show - I want everything they have.. lol. My $400 Sierra Thermal has been a great hut so far. Tight lines

Spots On The Spot is Lake Minnewaska 😂 -btw there’s no crappies in that location
We rarely show a lake map of the lake we fished in the spot on the spot segment. That spot on minnewaska perfectly matches the spot we fished. The point of that segment is not to give away a spot it is intended to show people what to look for on bodies of water that they fish.

Eskimo fish house, very interesting to say the least. I'll be curious If IDO will do a review of the ice house and of the pole system button. Personally I'm not a fan of the otter house pole system button, I believe Clam's RPS is the way to go.
I'm sure we'll do a review or two this winter. As far as the button "system" is concerned I don't think many will disagree that having to push the tip of your half frozen finger into a hole of the support poles in an Otter is not the best solution. 😊
InDepthOutdoorsTV that was the absolute worst. Fish all day then smash your thumb trying to retract the poles! End up with a huge dent in your thumb lol.

Did any of your holes freeze up while using it?
Looks to be a very useful tool for those freezing days.
I was able to see them in action last year with the Ice Defense guys, it was pretty cold and the holes didn’t have any ice at all. And the guys at Ice Defense are a good group of guys!
The Ice Defense units will keep a hole completely ice free for as long as you keep it running. They are pretty impressive.

That's a MarCum lithium shuttle. It isn't specific to a Marcum. You can mount any ice unit you want to it.

@@brander871 yeah me to lol. No more otter no more striker ice or glacier ice houses. They are using eskimo, strikemaster suits and yeti houses now.
I feel like going to eskimo is a big step back imo. I know it's just a fish house but the quality of an otter fish house is 10×'s better then a eskimo..but what do i know im just an average fisherman lol.
@@Growbrojay i think you're 100% right. I mean there's no other explanation why ido would leave otter. I believe eskimo offered more money because them as a brand are not as good as a otter or clam so why not take their shot at the biggest ice fishing show on TH-cam and TV. It's the only way they'll stay relevant in the ice fishing market (IMO).
Eskimo shelters are really good though, just not as high quality as an Otter. I had heard Otter parted ways with the show. I think they did that with other ones who were using their product as well. It's not necessarily about who gives the most money to them but rather sometimes the products producer decides to stop sponsoring people. Frabil did it a few years ago, they dropped just about everyone.

the reason vmc no longer offers those plastics in bulk is because their factory cannot keep up with the demand for the pre-rigged. Think about that.

Otter made the decision to end the relationship with In-Depth Outdoors this summer. Chasing a big payday was definitely not part of the equation.
The hole hopping is a good way to catch lots of fish but to an outsider it sure is annoying when you get to an area and people have claimed the entire spot and turned it into swiss cheese

Boysen reservoir near Shashoni Wyoming has been being fished the last couple weeks. Early ice crappie does well out there.

Money had zero to do with the switch and Eskimo make a very good shelter. Give the Apex or Grizzly shelters a look. They're built very well.
@@InDepthOutdoorsTV I have over 10,000 miles on an Otter behind my snowmobile. Change the hyfax ever couple of years and keep on pulling. Good for me.
