I some how agree with yeon woo's appa thinking. Kids will appreciate things if they are given with thoughtful intention. The level of appreciation will decline when kids can get whatever they want without any effort. However, the father should really control his spending spree in order to show good example to his children. Just a humble opinion.
both parents have good points.
dad wants to teach his son to keep his word. he doesn't want to spoil him because giving him everything now, would make him want to ask for more and more later on. however, i do find him a tad bit hypocrite (i can't think of a more neutral term sorry but i'm not hating on him or anything, it's just in this specific aspect!!) when he wanted yeonwoo to just buy the top because it's what they talked about at home. i mean, they did list down things they would buy but then he went on a spending spree, thus, not sticking to the list. plus, it's not like yeonwoo insisted on buying both the top and the other toy. the thing is, the dad is the type of shopper who wants to roam around and see what they should buy (as seen both in the dept store episode and this grocery episode) so why can't his son look around at the toy store as well and see if he likes something else right? maybe if he wanted to teach him about keeping his word, they should make simpler promises like "i will only get one toy." he is still just a kid after all.
on the other hand, mom clearly wants to spoil (not in an eccessive way) her son. like what she said, there are things that she weren't/aren't able to do for him and we all know this is probably due to her busy schedule at work, that's why she feels the need to compensate materially. overseas parents do this a lot. because they rarely get to spend time with their children, they feel sorry for them and would want to lessen the relational gap between them in ways like buying the children stuff, treating them food, going on vacations, etc. again, like the mom said, they rarely go out as a family to do shopping and i guess she just wants to make the most of these rare moments by making sure her son had the best time.
overall, i still think they're a great family! i like how both the mom and dad talk about parenting stuff like this instead of just one party conceding to the parenting style of the other just to get things over with or something like that.
But his father only buy food or things that they'll be able to finish it, like tissue or diapers. It's different from spending money to toys.
@@medipakpahan i get what you mean but think of it in a child's perspective. for kids, they think they need toys. they don't worry about tissues or diapers and stuff because they're kids. i mean, have a child choose between $100 dollar bill and a bag of candies, what do you think he'll choose?
it's not really about the items but more of the act of spending itself. the point is they made a list at home but the dad did not comply which may set a bad example for his son, given that he himself wants his son to learn to keep the promise he made as well. they had a list so that's probably what they only need at that time and other stuff not on the list would just be "wants."
Both parent are good. they are trying their best to be a good dad in mom... both mom in dad have a good intention.. but the other one try to give more for his son because of her absence because of her heavy schedule. But the other one try to educate his son.. after all they are good parent..
thats how mom do for their child and thats the way dad act for his child.
2nd Hero me and my husband absolutely the opposite of this couple, my husband love to go to toys store and he always want to buy toys to our kid. Me, sometime agree and sometime must be the evil one😅

Suddenly I wish they didn't leave the show after Yeonwoo was born, just want to know how to raise that sweet smart and funny boy. We must have missed many beautiful act and saying of Yeonwoo in the past 6 years

The father is so right here. Kids should learn to cherish toys. If you give them everything and anything they ask, they will never be able to learn core values like patience and discipline.

Wow it feels like the role got reverse yoonjung being the dad and kyeongwan being the mom LOL.
Because of this show, and little Yeonwoo's support for his mom's singing, I had to look up some of her work. "Wow!", is all that I can say. She really is an awesome talent and her son is incredibly smart and talented, too. It will be fun when when his little sister begins to talk and toddle around. The earliest stages of life are always so fascinating to see. You pop into the world without a thought in your head and, eventually, a person begins to develop. With most of us, growth and learning never stops. It's an amazing journey, isn't it?
If my kid is as good as yeonwoo, ill be so happy to buy him what he ask. Hes so good to his mom, his sister and dad, he brings joy to this family, he deserves all.

I think, I can understand Yeonjung. Since she is often not around for her children, she wants to shower them with material things. My dad was a seaman. He only comes home after one year. He will buy us toys or the latest gadgets at that time. But when he leaves, we will be back to reward system. My mom says that we only get something if we did something good. She also reminds us that what he have comes from our dad's sweat so we need to cherish it.

*ya! *It's right what Appa said we should not give everything what they want , they should learn efforts but here in every time they go for shopping and like now in this episode Appa takes everything what he wants which was not in the list but when comes to yeonwoo they only buy 1 toy, here every child learn lesson from their parents , if Appa would take everything what wasn't in list, from that yeonwoo will learn from his Appa , so Appa should also stop his spending money as well if he wants to make yeonwoo a better child because every child learns from his/her parent's parenting*😍

It's okay to spoil your child once in a while. They will remember it when they grow old. It depends on the attitude of the kid, really. It seems like Yeonwoo understands the situation, but he is still a child. He agrees when they could only buy one toy, but inside he's probably hurt. And he'll remember that too. In my opinion, they could've just bargained. Like buy the two toys but not getting any new toys for like months, or buy only one, then another one for another moment. Instead of just disagreeing with the child's want.

I am sure its difficult for the mom to work all the time. She thinks buying the toys will compensate a little. The dad has a good point. Buying the child everything he wants, even when its rare they do a family outing, is going to bite them later. Yes, the father went crazy on the shopping but it was food for the whole family.
