  • Why Exmark Navigators for our lawn care business?! What's going on guys Blake Hawthorn with it's HIS turf, this video is about our Exmark Navigators that we use daily. A lot of you are probably going to ask why Exmark because I've already had the question many times and the reason being is it was the first mower that I ever looked at when I started shopping for a center discharge mower. I found one that has like 200 hours on it I got it for 4500 bucks. And that was my first one, the next year I bought two more. They were all 48-inch decks, but then we started getting into the problem of getting into some back gates, so to keep from having to push mow a bunch of backyards, we decided to buy a 42-inch Exmark navigator, so that way we can get into all of the backyards. If you would like to learn more be sure to check out the full video.
    It’s HIS turf’s channel’s purpose is to educate fellow lawn care and landscape/hardscape contractors and to grow a strong community to can help each other out. I havant seen an Exmark Navigator around my area. Its all Walkers. I have a power dump on mine. it sure saves your back when dumping grass or leaves. Great video.

    • @itshisturf23
      @itshisturf23  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Power dump definitely would make unloading easier! Unloading the clippings off the trailer is another area that we are trying to refine. We are trying to make it easier and faster. Currently we use blowers to remove clippings, a tractor and rakes as needed. I have heard that we should look into a dump trailer and bed. How are you getting your trailer cleaned off?

    good video, a topic I've always found interesting is diesel vs gas in machinery and specifically lawn mowers, although the machine costs more, long term you save on lower fuel costs. might be an interesting topic for a future video

    did you guys end up making the video comparing the navigator vs walker?

  • @mister_e357
    @mister_e357 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Definitely check out walker. The biggest advantage over toro/exmarks you can use a lot of different attachments making just one machine into many. Plus you can get larger decks if you need it for a larger application Ana changing them is fairly easy even one person can do it (though a lot easier with a helper) bag, rear discharge, side discharge, mulching you name it. Dethatching rakes, blowers, snow blowers and plow. Sprayers. I think even an aerator attachment.

      Thanks for the recommendation Eric. There are a few other people that have said the same thing. I plan to check them out soon. My buddy Kevin at fall river lawn care has one and he is going to let me run it soon. I will let you know my thoughts on it!

    Either check into the b wise brand dump trailer (dump gste operstes as a.ramp for loading or use a debris loader and dump.trailer to suck up clippings. I can show you my set up via pics if you like.

    I mostly mulch leaves unless there are way too many. I was thinking about getting a bagging mower like the navigator. About how many yards can you mow before you have to dump?

    • @itshisturf23
      @itshisturf23  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Weekly lawns 2 or 3. 10 day lawns 1. Biweekly dump multiple times. Lawns are 7000 to 12000 sq ft.

    When you dump in back of truck try pulling mower away and use pitch fork to stack and pack grass better you'll be surprised the difference of amount of grass will pack back there

      I have a few buddies that are currently running walkers and from what I can tell they seem to like them. I would love a chance to run one myself, I just have not had a chance. Hopefully here before too long I will. I chose Exmark I while back because I found a great deal on a used one and it impressed me. I am very brand loyal. I have also been using Gravely for 10 years. Once I find something that works I will stick with it.

Because most yards here in new Orleans are st. Augustine and when the ground is a little saturated it soften up and will rut easy under heavy weight...thanks fir the inspiration in keeping God first in your biz....have a bless day

    I know a trick for unloading debris from the trailer. I call it the "layers of cake" method and have used it many times. Lay a tarp down and pile debris until the tarp has as much as you can carry on it. Then lay another tarp down and fill that one up as much as you can pull. I've even used this method with piling debris higher than the sidewalls of the trailer and it works.

    If you can work on your own mowers, get a walker period, also they made walkers with heavy duty components in mid 90’s... find a used low hour old. Walker it has NO PLASTIC, not even the cooling fans are plastic
