I spent 3 months in Argentina early 2024. Mostly in Buenos Aires, so I experienced the early months of Milei's presidency along with inflation. For example the fees for using the subway system went from $ .12 per any destination to $ .57. To explain why people have kept voting Peronism you have to go deeper with history. The reality is that since Peron we had military dictatorships in between and Peronist have used that to their advantaged playing the victims and saviours because at the very least could claim to be democratic governments. In addition, you have the fact that things get so bad here that non Peronist governments, when they do win elections, end up dropping the ball too, and people go back to Peronism because it's "the safe" choice. Peronist used to be better at adapting too, that's why it's neither left nor right wing, they coild basically be everything and anything if it would win them an election. However, in the latest decade it's gotten more and more left wing and rigid in their ideology, they also had 3 consecutive mandates and then one previous to Milei. And since the period when they weren't in power was significantly shorter and when they came back they only made things worse, they don't have much credibility anymore. In addition, before the internet and all that, it was definitely harder to expose and keep people in the know about corruption and the like. Any citizen now can fact-check polititians in few minutes with their smartphones.

To understand why Milei isn't able to get rid of the restrictions on dollars yet, you have to understand that Argentines over the decades have lost ALL trust in their currency. So they turn to dollars to save money, so the moment Milei removes the restrictions, you could expect people to immediately start trying to get dollars. And since there's a shortage, that would be a problem, so he needs to release it at time when they have enough dollar reserves that this wouldn't be an issue. But one of Milei's campaign promises IS unrestricted currency competition so it's a matter of time, as opposed to previous governments that would claim we need a national currency yet only know how to devalue it.

As an Argentine, I'm tired of hearing that we need to return to the 'golden era' of the early 20th century. Instead of romanticizing a time when inequality was rampant, we should focus on creating a future that guarantees dignity and opportunities for everyone. I understand that inflation and macroeconomic stability are crucial issues that need to be addressed, but the current government's extractivist policies are far from the patriotic values they claim to uphold. These policies represent nothing more than selling out the country’s resources with no long-term benefit to the people. I can also assure you that many Argentinians do not share the vision of this substantially wealthy few who pretend to speak for all of us like Fernando

yes sure hahaha, more poberty, less industry, less money for the people, how is saving our country ? tell me please
😂😂😂😂😂😂
When is that happening, exactly? We hit the 6 months mark already, (it was 3 months needed before assuming the presidency)

Media groups used to receive money for governmental ads space. Some of them received up to 900M dollars annually.
1:04:00 Murder rates in rosario are 4x the national average which is equivalent to that of colombia, mexico or brazil nowadays. Not medellin in the 80s but for a country with such a low rate it's a massive difference.
Great interview, it's a pity he couldn't explain in more depth some of the things that milei has been doing to restructure the country like the RIGI or loosening the regulations for the businesses. Viva la libertad carajo!!
Got to vote Man. Regardless of political view
We all libertarian at heart but don't know it when our only two choices are Democrats and Republicans.
Great! Congratulations
Best president of the world
Make Argentina Great Again
MILEI IS THE BEST PRESIDENT IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW
Argentina's economy was one of the top ten largest economies for more than 70 years and shrunk slow and steady for the latter 70 at least.
Hi from Argentina
Hi, Why doesn't Argentina adopt Bitcoin officially?
@@geoms6263 Because they want to implement free currency competition after closing the central bank, this stops the circulation of Pesos (the currency to collect taxes in free competition will be the Peso, so it does not indirectly benefit another currency).

Good interview, but as an Argentinian I gotta say he overreacted our flaws for dramatic purposes lol.. after all with all our problems there are still more people coming in than people who emigrates
15:28 No, Argentina *_does_* have vast natural resourses, thats why its considered to have been doing *_terrible_* across history
Great episode! As a brazilian guy I never thought i would consider moving to argentina. We need a Milei in every country!

You should read The Dictator's Manual by Bruce Bueno de Mesquita. Here they are making theoretical errors when they analyze political systems and how people who want power use them.
Argentina has vast natural resources! Albeit underdeveloped…

When I was a kid in 1992 we bought tools and sold them later to save wealth and as a currency ..
Hardest currency is still our labor. Remember, it's super hard to preserve wealth in the form of gold and that's why we need digital gold like Bitcoin.

Wrf was that Irene commercial? Jesus h christ.
Love what's happening in Argentina Javier Milei as a warning from the future of the USA although we have a lot of stability here in USA that Argentina never had. .... We just need to take notice of money printing and wealth distribution and taxes that cripple innovation.
Super interesting interview. Love love love it
To understand why Milei isn't able to get rid of the restrictions on dollars yet, you have to understand that Argentines over the decades have lost ALL trust in their currency. So they turn to dollars to save money, so the moment Milei removes the restrictions, you could expect people to immediately start trying to get dollars. And since there's a shortage, that would be a problem, so he needs to release it at time when they have enough dollar reserves that this wouldn't be an issue. But one of Milei's campaign promises IS unrestricted currency competition so it's a matter of time, as opposed to previous governments that would claim we need a national currency yet only know how to devalue it.
so this is the black pill rabbit hole of england.
Javier Milei is the best thing that happened to Argentina, and just in time
African salaries and european prices. He is fucking destroying Argentina.

I could not agree less in the "be more politician" part... I am 23 yo and i love seen my president been diferent. Watching his party fight or not agree whith each other, but understanding what is needed to save Argentina. We are in a delicate historical moment and we need a person that dont give a f.. About maners and stays true of their believes. I think he is got the trust by doing what he is doing. He even said that he doesn't care if he ends up being the bad guy to history, he wants to improve Argentina and i sleep better at night thinking about that and i can think about a future whit him giving that ideological war.

Which is the safest country in Latin America?
Argentina is the safest country in Latin America. This nation scores 1,855 points and is ranked 47th in the world, according to the IEP Global Peace Index.
In the last year, the city(Rosario) that has Lionel Messi as one of its most famous citizens climbed two positions in the ranking.
"Argentina is the most peaceful country in South America and registered a small improvement in peace last year, with an overall score that improved by 0.2 percent," the report began.
"The peaceful transfer of power after the election of new president Javier Milei in October 2023 led to an improvement on the political instability indicator, despite the elections," concluded the official 2024 report that ranks the safest nations in the region.
*Only behind El Salvador (if we include Central America).
In fact, Argentina is safer than the United States!
Argentina is one of the countries with the fewest crimes/homicides PER CAPITA in all of the Americas (South, Central and North).
Glad the podcast didn't actually stop. The rebrand is a terrible downgrade, though.

We are bad-okish now and 1 year ago we were bad-bad
Idk it's feels something is happening but not the expected results or promises but whatever...
I want everything to go well. And I don't want to stop criticizing because we must always demand that things be done better.... The fanatics of the current government and the opposition make me feel sorry and disgusted.. How can you be a fan of a politician?

12:43 ❌ Argentina did not have just EUROPEAN INMIGRANTS. There were Asians, Africans too. THE THING IS THAT ARGENTINA DID NOT HAVE SEGREGATION OF "RACES". WE MIX EACH OTHER. THATS WHY WE DID NOT EVEN HAD AFRO RACISM LIKE USA. 😂 Because of the poor numbers of Argentines, it was necesary to create more ARGENTINIANS. So White, afro, native, asíans etc MIX EACH OTHER. Milei is a joke and not a true liberal. He didn't "dolarize" nor he removed fx controls. Even worse, he' revaluating the peso through debt emission and controls. He didn't cut any taxes but increased some (when he said he'd cut himself an arm before doing it). He also promised he wouldn't increase public services until the economy recoverd. Plus he said he could end public companies deficit without affecting what the consumer paid. Fx controls are still here. He's now negotiating with China when he said he'd never do that. He said Peso was worthless shit and now he's "defending" its value.
And so on and so on, I could rant all day about him. He's doing excatly the opposite of what he promised.
The only consistent thing he is keeping is fiscal superavit, achieved through the pensionates well being and cutting public worl developments and "impuesto país" increases.
And I'm not even wasting time on the realpolitik side, where he's even worse than the economic.
... you wish 😂
Translation of the comment: "He is not a true libertarian because he did not dismantle the state on day 1 that he assumed, ignoring any social explosion that would allow the opposition to assume power again and erase from history any possibility of a libertarian project."
you lack pragmatism, if milei did not even all, HALF, the things you said, the country would have blown up
argentina is not a country that spawned yesterday, it has a lot of political baggage and even more debt, you cannot just dynamite the state, impose anarco-capitalism and that is that
The IMF holds the key to Argentina's cage...

In relation to Javier Milei very interesting topic I believe he has the balls and Intelligence to move Argentina forward once and for all after
the mess that the previous Kirchnerist/Peronist Government left behind. He will get there and the storm that the Argentine's are
facing will eventually subside, he has already won the hearts and minds Its society and now his economic strategies are going full steam ahead
