China believes in having their leaders voted in by their peers up the ladder progressively, based on proven meritocracy, starting from the grassroots level - the village. There's no chance that a pop star could suddenly become the leader in China, and then a comedian comes on line in the next election.
People can spend days on end arguing about which system is democratic and should be called a democracy-presumably the best for the majority of the people. Well, that's for the people living in the different systems to say, isn't it? China has more than twice the number of people, percentage-wise, who believe they have democracy compared to the West. More than 90% of the Chinese population believes that their government is working for the majority of the population.
