I was homeless ages 17-22. I refused to live on the streets. I lived in my car, took truckers showers in gas station sinks and ate off the land. Rattlesnake, cottontail rabbit not jackrabbits, they are nasty, catfish, trout and prairie chickens. They were all very good. I could get potatoes, corn and pinto beans from the NAPI. It was rough but I stayed working, sometimes 3 jobs at a time, graduated HS and survived quite well. You do what you have to do. No family for most of my life so I relied heavily on God. Got to say I need to get myself some more cottontails and make a rich stew. I can rely on my Husky to bring food for the table! 🐺🐰🐓🐟🌵🥔🌽🍲🚙🎣🪤✝🏜🪱

Dude, possums are awesome... they freaking eat TICKS so less for us to worry bout xP everyone where I'm at always says to try to avoid hitting them bc of that. Surprised you guys didn't have skunk , deer or groundhog in this episode honestly xD very, very common roadkill, especially out in the boonies.
It's also almost impossible for Possums to transmit rabies! They can't get rabies as easily as other mammals. They eat snails, slugs, bugs, and sometimes even mice. They're great animals to have around your home, they're just a little scary at night with those skull looking heads!
I have a cookbook with multiple recipes for all of these critters and many more! This was a fun episode because everyone had their own unique take on the ratings of each of the Roadkill Animals.

Our first home after marriage was in a rural mountainous area in Western Massachusetts USA. There was tons of wildlife : deers, bears, pheasants, beavers, porcupines, etc. A few miles down the road, our nearest neighbor, lived a guy in a shack with no electricity or running water by choice. He ate pretty much off the land. One day a bear cub had been hit by a car and was by the end of my driveway. I ran into the neighbor about 5 minutes after seeing the cub and told him about it, he took off running to go get it for dinner!
Again The muskrat shouldn't have been tough. Wasn't cooked right. However , the one girl saying it smells and tastes like A** couldn't have been more right. 😂😂😂😂
Rabbits are actually normal food wise. Fun fact there are meat rabbits specifically bread for food purposes example the Flemish giant. Another point to note is domestic rabbit tastes different from hare or a wild rabbit due to the extra gaminess much like how a deer is different from a cow. I would also like to state opposums are marsupials not rodents. They are also incredibly beneficial when it comes down to tick control since they eat ticks. They are also INCREDIBLY resistant to lymes disease as well as rabies.

It's like... weren't you just saying Oooo, that's good a moment ago? Why should knowing what it is change what you thought of it? If I like something, I'm going to like it, regardless of what it is. I'd just be like, "Whoa, really? Ok, that's good stuff. Seconds?"
