I'm thinking of getting one of these as a network bridge to partner my chord qutest. At present I use the aurelic aries mini as a Bridge but don't like the aurelic lightningds software. It's so unreliable. As a bridge the ifi would be totally passive. As is the aries. Have you tried this streamer with a high quality bespoke DAC? It's the software that really is a top priority for me. I plan to use this with both android and IOS and a 10tb HDD attached to the ifi for music. I don't stream any audio from things like tidal etc. Everything will come from the attached. HDD. Im not sure yet though if I should stick with the aurelic or move on. This streamer does look very promising though. Thanks.
Check out the Pi2 Mercury V2 streamer and load up RoPieeeXL on it. Works as a bridge and is rock solid. Sounds fantastic too. The Volumio software (Neo) is buggy, I've used it and it is terrible as a bridge.
I am a frustrated user of ifi zen stream. Though it sounds great, the OS is pathetic, it gets disconnected every 5 min. I wish ifi fixes the bugs in their firmware.. Not sure if they have used the same OS in the Neo Stream
Sometimes the issues are related to your Wi-Fi network. I found I had issues with other gear until I sorted the Wi-Fi connection in my home. It is frustrating for sure if you get issues.
@@GavinsGadgets yes, I also thought it was due to wifi. But my wifi signal was strong. I got the frequent disconnection problem only after I updated to the latest system version. After I did the factory reset, reverting to the previous system version, the frequency of disconnection has reduced.
@@ebenezerjebaraj The Neo uses Volumio, it was buggy as hell when I tried it on the Mercury V2 streamer, switched over to RoPieeeXL and have not looked back. And I too had a terrible experience with the Zen streamer. Who cares how it sounds if it does not work?
Gavin's Gadgets Thanks Much !
You’re welcome 👍
Wow a video after 2 months!
Another one goes live tomorrow at 3pm 😀

Suggest you drop ifi audio an email so they could confirm this for you
@@GavinsGadgets Thanks. I will do that.

But is the streamer as unreliable (based on reviews and well documented forum feedback) as the Zen Stream or have all the issues been fixed?
In the methods I’ve used it was fine.
