Thanks for showing the plant and the root. I tincture this just like anything else. Chop and dry it. About 1/3-1/2 of your jar should be herb and the rest 100 proof vodka. We use it for Lyme Disease but I understand the effects are supposed to be good for the heart.
I just started taking Dan shen with beet powder because I have anginia pain.It takes it away and beet powder makes nitros oxide naturally opening arteries more. Now I think I will try to grow it.
Hi! It’s incredibly easy to grow once you get it started. I’m in NC and it comes back every year plus it spreads. Absolutely love this herb! Would love to hear how it does for you 😊💚
Thank you for your reply, red sage has been a blessing!!.wow what a great plant for angina relief.I suffering bad until I started taking it with beet powder.now I feel normal, during the day.I can't seem to find to much information about it but will experiment growing some and glad it's a perennial. Can you tell me what it's days to harvest time is from seed???.can a person harvest "some " roots and then let the plant grow or does it cause plant problems???.If only more people knew about it with heart disease they would not suffer so.Im thinking if all goes well to grow more to sell, seems like more demand than supply available.thank you, herbs rock!!
@@stevenwilber4426 root harvests are done either in the fall after the foliage dies back or in the spring just as she’s starting to wake up. This way all of the plants energy is in the root. You can take some of the root and leave the plant and she should do fine. I’ve not harvested seeds from her but I think you can take a cutting and root it into another plant. I bought my seeds from Strictly Medicinals. Richo Cech is an amazing plant guy and herbalist. He has several books out as well.
Thanks for your enthusiastic video! I read somewhere it's good for essential thrombocythemia (production of too many red blood cells). Do you know anything about that? This is a condition I have and it puts me in danger of stroke, so I'm pretty keen to treat it, but not with the chemotherapy my doctor's offering. Any insights welcome. Blessings, Will from Wales x
Thank you for commenting and I’m sorry I didn’t see your comment until now. I’ve not heard about it building red blood cells but it may be true. I’ll look into that! It’s mainly for blood stagnation so I think it would help move the blood and help with someone who has an increased chance of a stroke. But as always, check with a doctor to be sure any herb is ok for you to use especially with serious conditions. Blessings to you as well!! 💜🌱🌿🍃
I appreciate your informative video! I have been trying to find out about the medicinal value of the leaves? If you or anyone else knows anything, can you kindly inform me or share a link? Thank you.
I have them in pots in Lancashire indoor sometimes outdoor. I am afraid to lose them if planting outside. When I was on holiday one nearly died from to much rain and other one got some worms eating it. How come yours had no predators?
@@FrogFromFog wow that’s interesting! I have a ton of slugs in my yard/garden but they’ve never messed with my roses or Dan shen. I hope they don’t!! Thanks for your input 😊
Yes, Chinese herbalist here. Concoct in red wine. Good blood thinner.

I've heard about Dan Shen for years. What do you think are its most important benefits?

I’m not sure why there’s no predators but I’m happy that there aren’t. Maybe it’s my climate here?
@@thegoddessandthegeekhomest2880 Last year even roses leafs got eaten, this never happened before :D But I have maybe 1000 snails at my small garden.
