This was really informative, Harlan. Thanks. And thank Dean for us! That was enough of a description that I think I could easily replicate the system. I am going to save this video for future reference though. Keep 'em coming! Cheers, Mate ~Ron Just an FYI: the cable ties Dean was referring are called "Mounting Cable Ties." I got mine from a local mom-and-pop hardware store. I've even seen them on Amazon.
Dean is an absolute genius ❤ Master Dean you’re an inspiration to all the up and coming fish breeders. You’ve got my attention, I’m ready to learn some stuff. 😁
I love anything that has to do with dean ❤❤ good job guys 🎉🎉 love the fact that you all went to the states and talked to all the legands. You all are the Australian legands other than Paul's aquarium and ABs fishroom. I want to say a million thanks to you all. Im absolutely loving this content i have like i said had a hard time in this world it makes my day to see these videos. Especially from young ones like Nick and you! Keep up the good work mate! Thank you
I can’t answer on Dean’s behalf, but some people used to put a nail or screw inside planted aquariums as a source of iron. I’m pretty sure it’s been demonstrated that it’s a poor bioavailability and not recommended. My guess is like yours that it’s not intentional.
Great interview. How do you deal with water changes as the water level would drop too much for the fry as the water would drop too low in the trays to do one. Nitrates will get high…maybe I’m missing something. For me, I’d add a pothos or something if I can’t change the water.
@@HarlanFord thanks. Yep, I get that part, but we can’t let the water drop very low because of the dry, it maybe they are lower in the water than it looks to me and there’s room enough to do a decent sized water change…or could do one as low as the tray allows, refill and repeat.
What about water changes? I know water is circulating in the canister and up to the trays, but is the fry system part of Deans auto water change system for the room?
I recently installed a Dean-inspired system and I cannot believe the difference in survival rate, Thank you Master Dean!
dean is such a wealth of knowledge, what a champ

10:24 dean you got a rusty screw in the tank! just below the filter!

It is an adaptation of existing mass production systens, nothing new, but works...

@@firstclassfish01 thanks for watching!change the water in the aquarium not the trays. Pothos is a cool idea

I think he touched on that briefly. He said every 4-5 months he would remove the trays scrub the tank completely clean and do a full water change.
What water pump is used?
Mentioned here was feeding egg yolk before and it polute the water fast, what are you feeding now that doesn't in same rate?
Bug buffet
Thanks, doesn't seem to be in the European market.
Great guy but really too much talking. Could not even watch whole video. Video could have been 5 mins long more value
