damage+movespeed+some durability. you move around the map faster and you can extinguish attack on you while you try to do invoker things (people always focus you while you're around xd) decent item in general especially if you need a lot of cleanse
btw he have other 4 heroes in his team each of which is capable of dealing damage, surely dealing damage by yourself is fun, especially with brooch, but i personally think i'd prefer some item like shiva maybe or something like that over an other damage item
he probably saw him from the observer ward and press hex anyway cause he knows the timber will blink in, and once timber gets in range he gets hexed cause its already cast
