  • I've been building fence for nearly 30 years trying many different kinds. This is by far the most functional and economical permanent fence you can use for cattle.

Our best camera is the Canon Vixia HF G30. It is more expensive than the newer models so if you're looking for a mid-level Video Camera I would get the newest model which is here amzn.to/3htJvJE
The mic goes on the G30 and is here amzn.to/3hmMDqr
We used a Canon Vixia HF R600. The 800 is even better and here is the link amzn.to/3iAnFo5

Brett have you ever looked at the timeless fence post. They come in some smaller sizes like tee posts but also have some heavier size H post. The nice part about them is they are flexible and non-electric conducting. Just a thought, best wishes to you and yours for the new year.

Thanks for the heads up Dayne!! Yes I’ve looked at them. I have a hard time trusting fiberglass. The deer are extremely hard on them. However the main reason is I have a ton of t post laying around😂😂😁😁😳. Have a great new year.

You could use a weight over a couple of pulleys to apply the tension. The weight will provide a constant tension regardless of the amount the wire over the creek is stretched. I wish I could send a sketch.

You may interested in drive through gates for winter feeding. We feed every day in the winter and spin out our hay into a windrow so there is no waste and spreads manure evenly. We use a 3 point hitch hay rapper and run it in reverse to unroll the hay. I have fabricated 21 gates in the last 3 years.

I run a strand of hot barb wire across the top of the creek and hang barbless barb wire from the top strand spaced about a foot apart and let each hang about a foot from pool water stage. When the creek rises the strands swing down stream with out being wiped out I have never lost a water gap yet and cows don’t get out. I used this
For 4 gaps for 30 years now and haven’t lost a gap yet. I do lose some power while the creek is up but this usually last for a day or so it takes cows a few days to realize the fence is shorted.

Thanks I’ll look at this design. I’ve got a gadget that shut the wire off if the water touches it so your design might work well. How do you maintain the spacing between the hanging wires?

@@addisonranch 0:12 The reason I use barb wire on top is to use the barbs to control spacing
