    Crispy garlic is the best condiment, and I love using garlic oil for fried rice. I often make fried shallots as a topping for a Japanese curry. Thanks for the recipe, Siri!

    Why does the garlic get soft when I fry them. I leave them to cool down but still they get soft. Any suggestions?

    • @SpoonForkHeart
      @SpoonForkHeart  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not sure, but I would guess because there is still a lot of moisture inside. Maybe try cooking on lower heat for longer time. I hope that helps.

    Siri, this was great information. I grow lots of garlic in the garden because we love it and it's so easy! Now I have something new to try with it! I think I would eat that crispy garlic on almost everything! Many thanks!

    • @SpoonForkHeart
      @SpoonForkHeart  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there Terry. I am jealous that you can grow it easily in the garden. Garlic is very seasonal here in Arizona. Once it gets too hot, nothing grows. I hope that you give this one a try, I bet that you would like it. I put it in everything, both as an ingredient and as a condiment.

    • @secretdiaryofafoodie

    shelf life of both tosted and garlic oil?

  • @SS-pk1lo
    @SS-pk1lo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, I would love some feedback. I fried my garlic in low heat, and it was bubbling, but it never became “crispy”, only soggy. Also it took longer than 6 minutes for it to go brown. Is it because my garlic isn’t fresh?

    • @SpoonForkHeart
      @SpoonForkHeart  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, sorry to hear that it didn't come out right. Just out of curiosity, did you use a vegetable cooking oil, or did you use something else like coconut oil or avocado oil? I don't think it would make a difference, but it might. Also, the freshness of your garlic could make a difference. I wish I was there to watch and give you real life feedback because it's hard to know exactly what went wrong.

    • @SS-pk1lo
      @SS-pk1lo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your reply! Yes I used vegetable oil. That’s ok, I’ll just have to try again! The oil itself is still lovely.

      It will last for a month in an airtight container and in room temp.
      If you keep it in fridge it would be longer for about 3 months.
      (all the above is possible if only you properly cooled the fried garlic first before storing)
