    People gotta use common sense. When you are a loose natural and wash your hair, what happens? The hair tangles! So add water/wash your starter locs and watch them loc 10x faster.

      I noticed at week three that washing and adding water helps. I’ve had my locs for about 3 months I have some fully budded ones and about two that still unravels but I add water everyday and go swimming often so I wash my hair a lot, even tho people told me not to wash my hair for the first two months I didn’t wanna do that.

    I was TERRIFIED to wet my hair. I have 3c hair and it’s more 3b in front, but listen my hair likes WATER. I couldn’t take it. So I wet it down now and it’s budding after 3 months. My daughter loc’d the same time as me and she has 4c hair….her hair busses almost immediately. It’s gorgeous. ♥️ Love this video!!!

    So glad to see people talking about this! I do the opposite of what "professionals" tell me and what makes the most logical sense! I am almost 18 months loc'd, started with 2 strand twists, no oils, and I use herbs and ayurvedic herbs for my locs. I am loving this process!! This is a great video!❤️

    @Catfarq11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

    I’m amazed at the number of vids/ comments I’ve came across with people saying their locticians told them to avoid washing their starter locs. I started my locs last month and my loctician told me the same, to avoid washing/ wetting my hair.. she even suggested I use dry shampoo. Which I thought was absurd! If my hair is dirty, imma wash it with regular shampoo and water lol. Needless to say I washed my hair about a week after my loc installation and have had no issues with unraveling.
    Those with thick coily hair know that when our hair gets wet it’s shrinks and ravels around each other. I personally think this assists with the loc’ing process. So I don’t understand why locticians are telling us to do the opposite. Needless to say this is yet another prime example of doing what works best for you even if you do see a professional.

I tried adding more oils thinking it would work but it didn’t. After the second week I washed my hair and so far it’s doing well . I am in my third week now. Water your locs. I wet my locs everyday in the shower. Water and a little coconut oil is the only thing touch my locs on a regular basis and they grow as if they are possessed. I shampoo and steam condition them once monthly. And yes please wash y'all hair. At least rinse the funk out, squeeze them and allow to dry naturally. When I began my locs in 87 there was no products, terminology or tools, let alone a shop to visit for maintainence. Loctitians? n 1987? What is that? but Yes I suppose I am that I am, that for myself. I Had no idea what budding referred to... Flourish yea.
    (Ol' head right here🧚🏾‍♂️ lol). Mighty. There were some others who referenced "budding" as I scrolled, however your energy drew me. And you washed your hair after a week, I said I can listen to her, she got some damn sense. You figured out the best secret to healthy locs. Water! 🤭 so yeah chile thank you for clearing budding up. 🌹Your locs are mighty! Mine flourish.

      thank you loveee!! but first what is your hair texture? that may be a factor. I started with comb coils, but in the research I've done about two strand twists I've never heard of anyone braiding the base 😢 HOWEVER! locs can be started with braids (for instance say you platted the whole section instead of part braid part two strand twist) but one thing about starting your locs with braids is that it takes THE LONGEST out of all the methods for hair to loc.. it may not necessarily be "stunted" but bc it's partly braided is adding to the amount of time it's taking to loc.

    I have my hair for about a month, but i would wash once every 2 weeks, n mist it daily (n i put tea tree oil, peppermint oil, n caster oil in the bottle). I would condition my starter locs too (with a stocking cap) but only the day prior to getting them retwisted.

    What actually stopped the itch? I’m dealing with this now. Did you continue to spray your hair after you washed it ?

    • @thesimoneestelle
      @thesimoneestelle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      washing my hair stopped the itch. more specifically washing out the product in my hair. what i think happened is my scalp didn't agree with the product used to start my locs (loc and twist gel). once i washing that out and stopped using it i haven't experienced itching like that again.

    Your hair was not buddy at the time. Your hair was just puffy. You can absolutely not, bu,d until you are locked and your hair take months to locs. You are definitely locked now and your hair looks beautiful. Also water does make your hair tangle faster if you just sprites it
