TH-cam keeps deleting my comment, but you can probably already see it (maybe?) I just wanted to let you know that I've found an affordable induction heater, cutting my startup swordsmith cost by about $4200. This means that I'll be able to start MUCH sooner than anticipated, and I'm excited! In the spirit of the new year, the sword I will send you (email me, it's just my username) will be the base model for my affordable Jian, which, after consideration, will be called "The 剑圣 (Jiàn shèng)/The Jian Sheng Affordable Cutting Jian" inspired by your channel, literally meaning SwordSage. I want to hear what design you would like for the guard/pommel, as well as the endcaps on the scabbard. It will be modeled in a 3D program, 3D printed in casting resin, then used in a lost-resin casting method to make the bronze fittings Let me know!
Awesome, I'm looking forward to hearing from you! I've done some research and number crunching, and I've made an exciting projection. The research was the type of wood to use. I'd love to use walnut, but it's expensive compared to suggestions I've found online. I've come to the conclusion to use poplar. It's abundant, and it's easy to work with. This has cut costs significantly, from $25-30 of wood per sword to around $10. I've also found a much better supplier for metal, significantly cutting another cost in half. The only thing I'm concerned about is the bronze. I could use a different material, or I could make my own alloy of bronze/brass using copper and tin/aluminum. If you're okay with aluminum, that would be a lot more budget friendly, but my projected price for "The Jiàn shèng" is.. $135 with bronze fittings, $105 with aluminum Much better than the 175 I projected earlier.
@@skeome I'm certainly fine with whatever alloy you decide to use. As far as the shape of the fittings themselves, I think we need to schedule a time to talk about this more directly. since I have several ideas in mind, and it would be best to figure out what's feasible.
I should probably have made my mic about 50% less sensitive
... Wasn't watching the stream, though, so wasn't aware of the terrible audio balance
Happy New Year!
I missed this ny stream, hopefully u get to do more streams this year. Happy ny!!

Hmm... going to think about it, since there are several designs I like. I will let you know.
