I like the idea of documenting our lives. I dont want anyone telling my story but me......A couple of years ago I attended a funeral and a person speaking about the deceased person had not seen them in 20 yrs or so but got up there speaking and was way off on who the person was. Said they like sports and swimming and they in fact hated those events. The short of it is.....I dont want some joker who has no clue about me speaking as if they do. Thats the reason for my youtube channel.....

I agree, there's some kind of shift when you switch form being a consumer to being a maker, and it's satisfying.
We started creating more seriously when our kiddo graduated highschool and we found ourselves feeling a little down missing being full time parents. It has provided a hobby for us that has filled a void we were a little nervous about dealing with. We are having a wonderful time and are enjoying the creative aspect of it. Gives us something to focus on and goals to attain! ❤

I literally just made a video talking about this! Researching so much on how to grow on TH-cam took the fun out of creating and stopped me from posting videos because I felt like they weren’t good enough. Now I’m inspired again to create content based on what I enjoy instead of letting TH-cam dictate what I post. I needed this confirmation ❤
I have for sure been pushed out of my comfort zone. 🤣 I have gotten a little more comfortable but I am still very awkward on camera. I haven't posted in the last month but that doesn't mean I haven't been working. I spent this time working on branding, designing some shirts, and working on other promotional things. I am far from where I wanted to be at this point but I have committed to go ALL IN! The first year was difficult and bumpy. What will my second year bring? I refuse to give up!
I'll be coming up to my 1st year anniversary doing youtube and happy I press record!! I been through it all from monetized, almost losing my channel, getting my channel back buy then demonetized. I had to clean house and pretty much start over again and finally got remonetized in February. I fought hard for my channel and learned so much. Videos like yours help me get through all that pain.. Thanks Think media!
What happened?
@cjohnston7380 I'm not sure. My channel got flagged for spam, and my whole page got deleted. I had to appeal. TH-cam didn't see any violation and restored it. A month later I got flagged for reused content. It took me 3 times to appeal and ended up deleting most of my videos. I had to build up my watch hours, revamp my whole page, and finally, I got my monetization back. It was really stressful and such a wild ride.

SEAN bro!! I don’t think you understand how big of a fan I was of you until you mentioned that you believe and follow God….now ima MEGA FAN OF YOU BRO!!!!!!! Hahaha. You mentioned Jesus in a different video I just watched (yes be yes and no be no), and as I’m sure you DEEPLY understand me when I tell you I sat there cringing as I thought “oh crap here comes the blasphemous thing about Jesus that will make me have to ‘ex-communicate’ this channel with the swiftness” hahaha (like I’ve had to do with 85% of all rappers I listened to, since it’s no longer trap stuff but just outright *ccult lyrics and antichrist spirit).
Honestly once Drake started putting a triple-6 sound effect on his songs some years ago, I’ve had to stay 10 toes down for me and my family in regards to the entertainment that’s allowed in the house. The Eye & Ear gates gotta stay buttoned up bro!! Haha

When I started my very first video was faceless because I was shy. Now I speak confidently and continue to improve. The first year I grew from 0 to 80 subscriber. Next month I hit my second year and I've grown this year from 80 subscribers to over 500 subscribers. This went from giving it a try to wow this is real now. I'm working on watch hour. And as soon as I have that I'll be in the new YPP program with the lowered requirements. I'm creating an email list and soon to be able to start actually being able to invest back into the channel to grow it even more. Join in the fun! It's one heck of a Journey. I'm loving it!
I fully relate to this so much, i started a few years ago. My channel is close to 10K but just the off camera and internal things you’re saying fully resonate, my lifestyle changed based on making content, particularly less drinking and partying and the desire to grow mentally and internally not just online

I started my channel a few months back, not long after I turned 72. Yes, it takes a lot of work, time and energy. As time passes, time and energy are more limited resources.
What I am finding, though, is that the energy I invest is coming back to me.
Legacy is very real to me. Knowing that TH-cam gives me a chance to touch lives, and maybe even support the journeys of people I may never meet in person, lifts me up.
Today you were a blessing to me and I am truly grateful.

This is all so true. Everything you’re saying is absolutely right, and what confirms what you’re saying even more is the fact that I was exactly that anxious depressed, my life was falling apart. My husband is a psychologist and used to say these things to me, but I never believed in until one day I decided to give it to God and the next day everything that my husband had been telling me for years started to materialize, and then I found my purpose. Now every day I spend at least three hours of my day working on my new business venture, which is my TH-cam channel. It is amazing house bending at least one hour being creative will dramatically change your life for the better, of course you have to give a couple hours of your day or all of your day, with God, walking with him, and listening to him.
All the points you ae making Sean are 100% true! Many people don't realize how importat and how great of an opportunity TH-cam is.
I love Reason 4: Personal Development. TH-cam is such a vulnerable medium because you are showing yourself to the world. But that doesn't mean you can't learn a lot of lessons from that :)
Always so encouraging. It was so cool to hear that working on something creative helps your cortisol levels go down. I’ve felt that while working on art, piano, video editing, etc., but it’s so awesome to know it’s a measurable fact.

Finally inspired to share health I have had on the Carnivore diet at 60 yrs old back to my prime weight and size and no more joint pains etc. truly life changing !

We are already all in and it is showing. In the last two weeks we are up 200 subs. For us that is really a lot. We are finding out that if you focus on something you will achieve it. We wanted more subs and we got them. Now it's just a matter of time before we learn enough and we can do and a high retention and subs and thumbnails right all at the same time. To everybody who is starting here is a tip. just start and improve a little bit every video and eventually you will get more views.
I hear you! Thing is, doing what I do (BTS videos of photoshoots) takes a hell of a lot of more time than talking heads videos. And there is no batch recording. Plan, shoot, edit photos then the video easily takes an entire week. For one video. So I love all your tips about productivity and absolutely love all your content BUT I find a lot of it I can't apply
When I first started making videos I was very nervous. because it was something that I loved to do overtime I became more comfortable and gained confidence. So when you're nervous your cortisol is going to go up not go down. Doing deep breathing before you go record is a good idea. Also if you can get a nature😊 before you record that will relax you.

30 years in corp America 15 doing corp video, got laid off at 60. Have nothing to show for my work. So looking to create my brand in the real world. Watched a lot of your old stuff and saw you grow, also saw you as a Christian and your heart was into your message.
I was not an on camera guy but host large calls. Many times I call myself a hype man, pre call infotainment is one of my things. But I come to you to lean how to tell my story doing. Three channels a fourth if count this one that really is just capture moment site. I will be getting into challenge.
You are right one started creating again my outlook was more purposeful. Heck sleeping better without Benadryl lol
For me, running a TH-cam channel has brought me also great professional job opportunities from video editing to content creation to community management. It really makes you stand out.

I’m a creative person, I’m working on a violin concerto that I’ll be performing next year hopefully. I’d like to document the process on my channel and put up videos helping people play violin and music in general. Possibly also throw in veganism and fatherhood too if that’s not too much info😂.
