0:40 - 1:09 This intro is so moving to me, simply because I was in 2nd grade walking through the front door from school, this intro would be just playing when my mom would yell out "yall better get to the table and do your homework and DO NOT interrupt me!!" RIP mom 😭😭
I'm sitting here literally crying watching these intros....especially from the 80's and up I'm 50 years old and I can remember the ABC soaps being a part of my life since I was little.... Damn it was a Blow when they canceled them, I have never recovered from it Long live ABC Soaps!!!
Almost 50 myself, and I know exactly what you mean.... I think part of it, and this might get you crying again, is that back then we never even conceived that such a time would ever end. It was as though it would always be that way, and now we have to just look back and be nostalgic.... For me it is the same theme you are talking about, but I love the closing when it goes "time only knows how long forever is going to last...."
@thesoapseduction I so do agree, Peabody Bryson's theme for One Life To Live was and still is the best, phenomenal and ultimate version of One Life To Live theme songs and needs to be released as a single for download in Amazon, Spotify, ITunes, etc.
That was the best ride through history that I've had for ages. I've been watching OLTL almost from the start, and I could remember where I was during each of the title "eras." Thank you so much for posting this. I marked it as a favorite.
Another awesome soap gone but never forgotten. A soap that, at times reminded me of my all time favorite ( The edge of night ). Thank God we still have General hospital! Truly the only one left that's entertaining.
My mother started watching this show when she was in high school, and I remember the OLTL intro with Peabo singing when I was a little girl. I have been watching OLTL for about 2 1/2 years now ( since the took off my beloved Passions) and have been a fan of the show since.
Does she have the episode where Maria was killed by the poisoned earrings she meant for Tina? I missed that episode because I was getting my hair cut, and I still regret it!
Wow! I am utterly amazed. Thank you so much for compiling these...and it was so high quality, too! Thanks for showing the history of OLTL's theme songs!!!!!!!!!
0:23 - 0:40 I always remember my great grandmother watching that show with the sunrise on it. It looked so peaceful I always wanted to jump into the tv and go there.
I get chills at 3:00. I can't explain it but it just doesn't feel like a classic to me compared to the previous ones, and yet it was over a decade ago. So refreshing...
Oh the memories of this great soap opera The openings I remember are the ones with the sun rising and the others that follow after that till the last one
IKR I feel the same that's why I no longer watch anything on ABC. They took away All my Children and my all time favorite One Life to Live not to mention Living and Ryan's Hope. They need to bring back the daytime soaps. They were a lot better than all this reality tv crap which they edit so much for ratings so I wouldn't call it reality. One Life to Live was one of my favorite soaps growing up. I think I was 6 when I first started watching it back in the 80s. I had the biggest crush on Max Holden aka James Depiva and Cord Roberts. haha
WOW! I was singing my Mom the opening of sequence #5 the other day and she couldn't believe I remembered it. I brought this up and it was like a trip through my entire childhood. I always thought the furthest theme back that I remembered was the 4th theme of "Rainbows End" without lyrics. But when I saw the sunrise and seagulls of the third sequence, a flood of memories came in! I must have been about five years old. Thanks so much for posting this! It really brought back great memories.
In my college dorm in the late 70s, the TV lounge was filled to overflowing from noon til 3 for AMC, OLTL, and GH. I was Guiding Light myself, so had to seek elswhere.
Wow! Watching this brings back tons of memories of watching OLTL with my mom! She's passed on now, but this was her favorite soap, right to the end. Seeing all the old credits is a great trip dowm memory lane. The one with the seagulls was my earliest memories of OLTL! My favorite was the one in the 80's by Peabro Bryson! Snoop Doggs latest take on the theme was great also! Thanks for the soap memory!
I remember the first one! I was annoyed when they changed it. I would get home from swimming lessons at that time when I was a kid in the summer and we would eat lunch and watch OLTL.
This is great. I have so much respect for this show, its history and how far it has come. I personally grew up with the second to last intro but love watching old clips and getting a better understanding of where everyone's coming from to this day on the screen. :)
WOW, the one from 1980-1984(third one)sure brings back a lot of memories. And of course, LOVED the ones from Peabo Bryson. Always looked forward to summer vacation from school to be able to watch all the ABC soaps! Thanks for the memories!
My favorite was the one with the lyrics and the last two. I remember when I stayed at my grandmother's house when I was out of school and she would watch this at 2pm on abc. Gosh the memories.
the super dramatic music with the sun coming over the grassy hill will always be MY OLTL! Vicki, Karen, Dorian (pre-cartoon), Joe, Marco, Ina, Pat, Tony, Paul, Edwina, Richard & Becky-Lee
My favorite intro has to be the Peabo Bryson one. I loved the beat to it and the photos of the cast flashed to the beat. Some of the latter intros were good but hated the one during the time Linda Gottlieb was the producer. I loved her Dirty Dancing movie but she didn't do OLTL justice.
Love the theme song of the late 80's, but my favorite is the circa 1993 one with the champage. I know its kinda cheesy and racy for that time, but it's so soap opera! This was when people were watching soaps! Sigh! Still a soap fan, but I miss those days
I love the theme from the years 92-94 I believe. That was when I first started watching in its era. The theme was so catchy and sexy. I would always stop what I’m doing to just listen to it.
My mother religiously watched One Life and GH right after for years from the time I was a small girl 170 right up to when she passed in her sleep in 2010. She watched these two shows.,
Strictly speaking of the music and not the visuals, I like the late 80s one (following the vocal one). The one with the flutes. Nice melody that I remembered, all these years later! (I love the cheesy orchestral theme music from the 80s era of soaps. AW and GH. I also don't think they should change themes for these shows. Having the same one keeps the continuity. DOOL's opening can make me cry! Nice memories of watching with my mom and sister, in '85 or so)
On “One Life To Live”, the first opening was the crackling fireplace that lasted from Monday, July 15, 1968 to April 1975, the second opening was the mountaintop sunrise from April 1975 to Friday, December 5, 1980, the third opening was first the fast sunrise, second the flying birds in the sky and then the sky view from Monday, December 8, 1980 to Friday, December 14, 1984.
***** That was during it's best years. I have to say the 2:20 theme, the Peobo Bryson theme and the theme after 2:20 (blue background) was OLTL best years.
That was neat. I'm sorry that I've missed OLTL as I watched ATWT. They competed against each other but what I've read from, and award shows, and clips it looked like a jam up show too. IF that first opening was indeed their first opening I find it amazing that they were in color in 1968. I thought daytime didn't go to color until mid 1970's..... BTW, The "Peabo" theme is the best!
The first two OLTL themes shown here... I thought there was another opening theme sequence between those two. I might have been 4 or 5, but I thought I recalled a forest scene, and the camera panning closer to the horizon... then, the sun rises in the background behind the trees. And there was different theme music. As I said, I was 4 or 5 at the time; someone please help me out here. Thanks.
0:40 - 1:09 This intro is so moving to me, simply because I was in 2nd grade walking through the front door from school, this intro would be just playing when my mom would yell out "yall better get to the table and do your homework and DO NOT interrupt me!!" RIP mom 😭😭
She had to watch her stories. Yup!
Awww. So sorry for your loss. What an awesome memory though.
Same
I'm sitting here literally crying watching these intros....especially from the 80's and up I'm 50 years old and I can remember the ABC soaps being a part of my life since I was little.... Damn it was a Blow when they canceled them, I have never recovered from it Long live ABC Soaps!!!

The Peabo Bryson the was THE best! It should be a single for reals!
@thesoapseduction I so do agree, Peabody Bryson's theme for One Life To Live was and still is the best, phenomenal and ultimate version of One Life To Live theme songs and needs to be released as a single for download in Amazon, Spotify, ITunes, etc.
Dr
My years began with the peabo bryson intro
Mine too
@@veronicawatson2525 Mine too
me too
The legendary Peabo Bryson.
Mine started that way too.
The '80s openings are the ones I remember! They don't make TV themes like they used to.
BetamaxBabe with the possible exception of anime
Now they're so short. Days Of Our Lives even cut out the tick tock at the beginning.
The 80s/Peabo Bryson theme is my favorite.
@@taydrabrookshire347 True! They go all out, and they get you excited for the show
That was the best ride through history that I've had for ages. I've been watching OLTL almost from the start, and I could remember where I was during each of the title "eras." Thank you so much for posting this. I marked it as a favorite.
😭😭😥me too
My favorite was the Peobo Bryson version
Kassie DePaiva (ex-Blair) sang it really well too
Another awesome soap gone but never forgotten. A soap that, at times reminded me of my all time favorite ( The edge of night ). Thank God we still have General hospital! Truly the only one left that's entertaining.

The blue one was my favorite....those early late 90's early 2000's feels.
Sameee.
Miss that show!
A lot of people do - They sure had some great storylines. One was with that One Villian - Carlos
Peabo Bryson sings so effortlessly
I cannot tell you how many times my mom recorded episodes of this show on our VCR. We still have old tapes on the basement.
Lol from what years
1970-71
Does she have the episode where Maria was killed by the poisoned earrings she meant for Tina? I missed that episode because I was getting my hair cut, and I still regret it!
@@CliveStaplesElvis ok
The early openings remind me of being a child at home with my mom. The music is totally soothing to me.
Me too. And I'm old now.
I'm 39 years old and I still want to be a Buchanan lol
You'd be a really young one at this point.
They had that huge mansion, from the outside, but only hung out in the living room.
Of all the ABC soaps, OLTL changed their opening the most.
And sometimes put people in the opening who weren't even on the show.
Ha! Days on NBC still has basically the same one they started out with in 1965.
I kind of like that, actually.
@@baconbap 😂😂😂😂
Wow! I am utterly amazed. Thank you so much for compiling these...and it was so high quality, too! Thanks for showing the history of OLTL's theme songs!!!!!!!!!
The third opening from 1980 to 1984 was probably the best of them all.
Pie this is the one I remember most, my mom watched these, and I started watching with her at age 15
How I miss this show and all the actors on it!💖⚘💖⚘💖⚘💖⚘
Oh the memories of this great soap opera
The openings I remember are the ones with the sun rising and the others that follow after that till the last one
In a good happy and sad way past present future these theme songs give you chills down your spine
Especially the 92-94 sexy theme. It was the era when I first started watching it.
The symbolism of the champagne bottle splooging all over...timeless.
What did it meant????
They did show the baby after that. . . . So, like, drinking age. Right?!
I hated that opening!
I will never forgive ABC/Disney for putting a sudden end to One Life to Live.
Best Opinion Towards ABC'S All My Children & One Life To Live Being Canceled.
But doesn’t every show have to be canceled at some time? It’s like the fact that we all have to die no matter how sad that sounds.
Me either. The best show ever made OLTL forever.
IKR I feel the same that's why I no longer watch anything on ABC. They took away All my Children and my all time favorite One Life to Live not to mention Living and Ryan's Hope. You guys still have General Hospital.
Brought back a lot of memories! The Peabo Bryson cover was the best!
very much appreicate your time machine.
The theme with the actual words attached is my favorite

And each day that follows. Cuz we only have One Life to Live!!! ☺ My 2nd fav behind the rising sun from 75-80
My One life to Live days started with the second opening

3:53 Antonio Vega hit us with the smolder!
😂 for real. Memories! Hahaha
I'm telling you. And the storyline where he accidentally got his mother in law pregnant. Hubba hubba...
Ive been a fan since 2009 and it amazes me how much this show has changed and continued to grow!!
Definitely! I never watched this show(I was a kid then), but I recognized the awesomeness of the opening song.
Oddly enough, I can remember the "fireplace" opening from 1968 (I was only four at the time) - I used to think the TV was on fire!
43 YEARS OF ONE LIFE TO LIVE The Daytime Soap Opera Of All Time Here On ABC
I loved OLTL, for one reson: TODD, TODD, TODDDDD! The original Todd. Loved him and Blair together. And he was foine, scar and all.
Mariell Clement Omg yes
He’s on General Hospital now as Franco.
Todd was very popular. I guess it's the badboy in him.
That actor was great as Paul on ATWT
Replacement Todd wasn't bad either.
The 90s opening was the most sexy, dreamy ever in daytime.
I never did like that "New Age" opening that ran from 1992 to 1995 - I never understood how it tied into the life of the residents of Llanview-
Especially since none of the people in the opening were on the show. But I did love the music.
I remember the first one! I was annoyed when they changed it. I would get home from swimming lessons at that time when I was a kid in the summer and we would eat lunch and watch OLTL.
The first was my favorite too!!!🙌🥰😀👍
This is great. I have so much respect for this show, its history and how far it has come. I personally grew up with the second to last intro but love watching old clips and getting a better understanding of where everyone's coming from to this day on the screen. :)
That was GREAT! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I was glad when they added the actors/actresses' headshots to the opening sequences - that lets me know who's still with the show and who isn't-
yes one life to live is better than ever these days. and i love the the logo with the sky as the background.
WOW, the one from 1980-1984(third one)sure brings back a lot of memories. And of course, LOVED the ones from Peabo Bryson. Always looked forward to summer vacation from school to be able to watch all the ABC soaps! Thanks for the memories!
Every theme of OLTL was great from 1968-95, my favorite has to be 1991-95, along with the 1980-84 theme.
Yes. The sexy theme.
Idk but the opening that's starts with the eyes looks like a TV-MA showtime opening lol
Alan Frank So does the music. Very slow-burn. lol
Some cinemax shit lmao
@@justincollins3874 You mean Skinemax. That opening was the cheesiest and most soft-porn like, but damn I loved it.

All of the themes were good. Loved ther 80s the best. Thanks for posting these.
I LOVE the early '90s one! It reminds me of being a kid and just the 1990's in general rofl!
Yeah!
Loved all the openings except the terrible flowing sheets one. Of course, I love the one with Peabo Bryson singing the theme.
I wasn't watching it anymore by the time they dropped the Peabo Bryson theme, but if I had been, I would have been SOOO upset! Best theme song ever!
Sooooooooooooooooooo miss OLTL
My favorite opening featured Linda Thorson. One of my all - time favorite actresses, I loved, loved, loved her as Julia Medina!
80s one was the best with or without peblo
I remember most of these :) Really enjoyed watching this!

Great Memories like family!❤️🙏💕
Very nice montage. Thanks!
I loved One Life To Live.
Great montage. I enjoyed them all.
The first two are spooky as hell my favorite is the next to the last one
Damn, TV was the bomb back then!!
The 1968 fireplace opening is the best.
When it came out and the introduction reminds me of the church commercial! LOL
That was neat. I'm sorry that I've missed OLTL as I watched ATWT. They competed against each other but what I've read from, and award shows, and clips it looked like a jam up show too. the very long running OLTL, that's Peabo Bryson singing @ 1:45
