The karting track they have on site was pretty sweet too. Highly recommend going next year to anyone who can, I certainly will be :)
I went there in 1997 as part of a trip from the UK. The week prior to Elkart Lake was spent at the race in Mid Ohio. Sunday at Elkhart Lake was very wet and the race did not start for several hours when there was a slight break in the weather. I flew back to the UK on the Monday and prepared for the drive to Belgium for the F1 GP. I believe I left on Thursday morning catching the ferry from Dover and then continued the trip. I booked into a hotel that afternoon as I was knackered. There great tracks on three weekends. I needed a break!
Sting ray clearly knows who his biggest fan is mate. Also I have to say that getting a penalty in Indy car seems to be a lot harder to get compared to F1. If you so much as give someone a dirty look in F1 you’re getting a penalty but here they can race like they’re in bumper cars, it’s great !!!!!
They need to tone it back a bit. I don't want full Nascar bumper cars, if I did, I'd watch Nascar. But it's still infinitely better than F1's "The person in front of you can push you off track unless you're ahead at the apex but also penalties for literally anything else" system.
What to do next week....? How about a LE MANS COMEDY REVIEW. Go in blind, don't try to learn anything more than you already do about teams or drivers, and give the people the marathon review we all want and deserve.
Great review as always Will! Side note, an honourable mention I feel should go to Jamie Chadwick for winning the Indy NXT support race which was fun to watch alongside the main race weekend

I wish Theo got a podium this weekend to stick it to Augustin. Maybe he's just saving it for Augustin's first race back to get a win, maybe that way Augustin could use his eyes then.
The more I see the start the more I'm stunned Newgarden didn't get penalised. On the broadcast there was a lot of talk about, and this is a direct quote, "unavoidable contact". Yet when you look at *everyone* else in the same postcode they all realise silliness has occurred and back off (which, given recent driving standards, feels like it should have a meme title card all its own at this point). It's just the #2 that rockets into the car in front like his push to pass button is stuck down.
While it doesn't have the all the chassis/engine competition from the greatest days of CART, the on track action is just as good and Dallara knows how to build one hell of a graceful tank.
