Perhaps the best sounding synths but the less ergonomic to my mind (firmware issues, grid of black potentiometers of the same size...) they are near to be perfect ^^
I think it's absolutely incredible how small this is. And the price is so good. this would be so perfect for me, touring solo! I think i'll definetly get one and maybe sell my deepmind for it.
I really hope this company steps up with full support on this one. It sounds very nice and I love a small knob per function module. I own a Dominion Club and the oscillators are very unstable, it’s near impossible to interface with a computer to backup patches, the firmware was abandoned really quickly, and i can’t get a response from their support. Does anyone have a recent experience with them that suggests they’re putting more into support? Cause I enjoy the design and sound! Very thorough, informative review!

I love Stimmings music he's actually my favorit artist. And I think he is the best reviewer for equipment. But this isn't the most careful review. I got a Synth Pro since 3 weeks by chance because a shop sold his exibit sample to me and I participated in beta testing. First apparently he doesn't have the current firmware installed. Second there is much more to talk about the fact that this thing has 2 multi mode filters wich can be run in parallel an serial. There are incredible possibilities I wished he would show off more. And third his conclusion about the unison mode is a pity. The fact that this machine has 8 Voices AND 3 VCOs which can also be run in DCO mode is insane. If he shows the unison mode, pull up the second and third VCO! I don't think there are much more synths out there that can make as thick and fat bass sounds. Certainly not the mentioned moogs and what have you. I have to say, although he likes the machine this review is a bit sloppy. There are much more things to love about this synth than the sound of one oscillator and the obvious fact that it can be played in 8 voice polyphonic mode!! The Pro also has an Arp a Sequencer and can sync LFOs to midi clock which is a thing people might me interrested in. Also it can send and receive midi cc which should not be taken for granted in equipment "coming from the past". ;) I say try out this machine for your self. This review is only shoing a tiny bit of the things to love about the Synth Pro. But I can never be angry with Stimming, I simply love his music too much, to me he is the greatist producer out there!! :)
He got a prototype from MFB for a week. So pretty sure there will be a updated firmware when the synth arrives in the shops. That is what he is saying. And of course you could talk for hours and demonstrate every single parameter. But that’s not the point with this reviews. It‘s personal and what HE like or don‘t like about it.
@@ElectronicBeatsTV Ok! but especially the unison mode with 3 VCOs would have been a thing to talk about more because that is precisely what covers the bass sound territory. But never mind, say hello to Stimming when you see him :D
@@madsvadsholt5324 I don't know for sure but I don't think so. The lag of Voice Panning can be worked around by recording a phrase twice and panning the recordings to left an right. The result will be amazing stereo width.
Thank you Martin, great demo and I love your poetic analogies: "Hydrasynth made of glass and MFB Synth Pro made of wood" nice! Your demonstration has definitely increased my interest in MFB.
The MFB is nowhere near the capabilities of the Hydra. Hydra is unnapologeticly digital (despite the warm mode that comes with the update) and is all about wavescanning with a bucketful of ways to do so. This one... not really. Hydra has 5 lfos and 5 EGs. An extensive matrix that this one does not have, etc. It's like apples to oranges really.
Hi Martin, did you receive your production model and how do you cope with the noise floor? I'm especially fond of the darker sounds it produces (with VCF) and I find the noise level a bit bothersome there..
Sounds incredible. Enjoyed this and Stimming's review of the Modal synths last year. Any opinions on the Argon8 and how it stacks up against the Hydra?
Na endlich...I was just looking at Thomann a few days ago, saw that the Synth Pro was supposed to be released soon, and wondering why there weren't any newer videos covering it. Have to say it sounds pretty good, but then I'm also a sucker for analog synths. Vielen Dank und gut gemacht!
Hello Stimming ; I've probably seen this video already the third time in three years ... and after this I wanted to let a comment here. Finally I got a MFB synth, A dominion Club, and so I finally got why there is magic in this machines designed by Manfred Fricke , but too late the get few more of them.... :( Hopefully MFB will reborn but they will not :( . I understand that design of new product was stoped, but I never got why they stop producing what was already produced and running. this is just so :/.. Personally all the last product were very close to so called 'perfection', being professional & still propedeutic. Just love for this MFB
It sounds fantastic! And a good demo too. I noticed something though: Why is the volume going up and down in such a nervous way at 9:30? Is it some unfortunate post-processing on the youtube video, or does the synth do this? Could it be a prototype issue? Also, does increasing the resonance attenuate the bass on the filters?
@@ElectronicBeatsTV It's not a big volume difference, it's more like small weird wobbles. I just double checked a different browser. I can still hear it. But it could be a bit of tremolo going at a variable speed. And it doesn't happen in other demos, so I'll assume it's the preset then. :)
No way this can replace a super 6. But you may still get what you’re looking for with this. My super 6 shipped and it’s amazing. I have that and this as well, and this synth is definitely good enough. But I still feel like I made the right choice every time I play my super 6 now. I’m gonna keep both.
Does anyone know the dimension of this synth (can't find them in imperial or metric). Wondering if this poly would fit in a 12 inch (1ft) wide space on my desk
Not very far from a single-timbre A6 (i have one) in structure. This sounds more grainy and a bit more interesting in the midrange with better/easier FM. A6 has very lush highs, driftier VCOs, and is bass-heavy w/ absurdly deep modulation powers.
Thanks a lot for the demo. First I was exited about it when it was announced, but now I feel underhelmed by its sound. I think it must be the oscillators, because the filter sounds good.
If you could control how much of the oscillators that goes to each (L/R) filter it would be able to make binaural sounds! - btw DS instruments does random voice pan, not oscillator pan witch requires a full stereo signal path
Binaural in regards to synthesis is a "udo super 6" term for controlling or modulating it's stereo capabilities. it can be the OSC, the VCF or the VCA. So if you want to call it binaural, this synth can do that that partly, The prophet XL has 8 voice mode and allot of modulation to address them, The evolvers are fully stereo, You can actually do true stereo with any synth with multitimberal support and at least two separate outputs.
as soon as I tuned it (also during the week I had it) it was pretty stable. a lot better than the medusa for example. but yes, you have to tune it manually after warm-up phase

funny, I was just thinking how tired I am with a sequencer on everything that rolls out. I just want one or two sequencers. And my DAW is the #1. Unless it is a great sequencer with some great distinctive features. But how many of those are there? And who wants to learn yet another stupid way to make 16 8th notes go up and down.
