If you've never worked in a restaurant you'll never understand the importance of family meal. During college sometimes this was my only meal or main meal of the day.
unless you work at a joint where everybody clocks in, does their prep, does the rush, cleans up and clocks out. I'm seeing more and more of those and it's infuriating. Then you get to the point where managers ban shift meals because why let your staff have free food when they're already making $9 an hour? Why, that's a waste of product! Anyway I'll get off my soapbox. I just hope people will stop working for these places and instead wait for jobs with real solid management
@@christianlemelin9862 Why do people still persue this career?More and more people are chasing this career and want to become chef.I am also very passionate about cooking.Cant understand if i should become a chef or not because there are lots of critics
Family meal is special cause your chef is cooking for his people, it's a lot more personal than a random face. Remember to always thank your chef after he cooks
If you are a cooking geek aka an actual chef who wants to know almost everything you can. You can't help but to talk only on food. You are practically surrounded with people with so much knowledge and you just can't help it. It's like gathering with book lovers and all you talke is the characters. per se
Slave driver just announced he is closing in 24 after admitting to not being able to maintain a viable restaurant. Blacklists exist for cooks who call out once and half the staff were never paid.
something crazy, like 1-3 if i remember correctly. they were honest about charging for labor cost though, and with more and more michelin stars people were happy to pay
I really liked the video when I first saw it, but looking at it years later, it seems this had turned into another high pressure situation where the staff have to perform and be judged.
It's amazing what the public takes for granted. They feel that Their opinion is valid having never set foot behind that line a day in their life, but that is fine with me. I will still take the.cash they pay me to create my art every single day. This life chose me - Chef
My problem with makin staff food is that i only have 2 months experience and Im left to work alone and I have to get my prep done after servicr ans everything is expected to be spotless clean and at the same time I need to waste my time on staff food if anyone could give me examples in the comments on food i could make really quick for staff would be good
Staff meal does not need to be luxurious. Roast some chicken, potatoes, veggies and there you go. Make some beans or pasta. It's really simple. You don't really need to complicate. As Rene himself said, staff meal has to be delicious, w/e you serve it's your choice
Dallas Van Winkle worked in the worst kitchen known to man. worked for Mc's D's for 3 years while i was fucking up my life. lol before getting hired for apple corporate.
How many of this staff was paid any money while working there under his 18 hour shifts, enduring mental and physical abuse? 50%? Rene is the classic "the emporer has no clothes". He is 100% ego and good PR. His diners are an elite cult of conspicuous consumption. I am hoping he will never profit from this type of "dining experience" in the future now that some of the foodie cult are finding out that ne is an abusive employer/user of his chefs who work for NO MONEY!!!!!
Have you ever enjoyed having a camera crew in your face as you eat dinner? Also...trying to grind through mis en place with a camera crew in the way is one big pain In the ass...
those nails are trimmed to the very pink... there's no caked up filth for bacteria to fester. probably material from some food he was handling with a few moments before that was filmed
A perfect machine...but are the cooks human or robots? They must be robots to make "perfect" food. Also they move strange. Denmark has accepted using non-humans in their work-force! Warn the world!!
A bit silly really. It's not their job to feed people in poverty striken countries. Ask your government to help lol. We don't deserve good food because a person is struggling in the world? Ridiculous
They don't wear hair caps, yet a lot of them have long hair, I don't think their food is as clean as people may think. they're sometimes not wearing gloves which can be okay, but the hair is defiantly a no go.

you can understand that without having worked in a restaurant. that's a pretty easy thing to comprehend lol
Stress, fatigue, underpaid, shit job....glad you found something good out of it, unfortunately you don't need a restaurant for that.

Why so big serving? Why not the peanut size serving which they serve to guests?
Because this is a single course, guests eat several courses, if they had a large filling meal they could only eat 1 dish.

MsTokies I think fast food cooks get a bad rap. I'm sure many entitled people wouldn't work those jobs for $30 an hour.
+Dallas Van Winkle I agree it's not glamorous, but by god is it fun!
4:04 WTF
WOW, good n nice food for staff! then the leftovers are served to customers for thousands of thousands.
s alwaheedy 🖕
And you cant even afford the leftovers by the customers. Bum.
Lmao no its just a way to get rid of food waste by feeding it to the cooks.

Why do chefs spend time cooking their own food when they already work more than 8 hours per day?
It's part of the shift, it's part of the job, it's an important ritual as well
Cooking the staff meal is the task i enjoy the most

And now they are closed for good
