    What new features would YOU like to see Maya add in future updates? And which of these seems most useful to you now?

    I honestly love animation, love everything about it and been trying to start for awhile, I gave up on it cuz lack of a good computer that's able to run maya or blender. But i still love learning about it and seeing videos about it

      You could still do stop-motion animation with your phone or do 2d animation with krita etc.

      Work on super low poly stuff to just learn it. I love Maya but I would say start with Blender as it should run better and it's pretty easy to transfer over your skills to Maya once you know the fundamentals.

      @@MrQuantumCodes I did start with blender 2.5 that's the version my computer will run, I did use it for awhile and also tutorials for this version wasn't much and hard to find

    8:59 This sounds a lot like the Jitter slider in Source Filmmaker.
    Two updates I'd like to have in Maya is Viewport 3.0 that similar to EEVEE or Unreal (I know MayaX is kinda doing that though) and fixes to the grease/blue pencil tool; currently it cause too many visual glitches in the viewport and graph editor for me to bother with it.
    Also users with newer Macs should read the "Known Issues" page since Maya 2024 can be a little buggy with M1 chips.

    I think maya should Include mirror poses like in Blender, when you copy CTRL+C and then CTRL+SHIFT+V its mirroring the pose (if I remember correctly I didn't use blender for a while)
    its super super useful for cycles

      I really do wonder how much Maya just crutches on AnimBot because of how many features it has... shocked Autodesk hasn't bought AnimBot and integrated it because it has SO MANY QoL features like pose mirroring that really should come with a software as expensive as Maya...

    Interesting You havent checked their "Layered Animation Rig" settings, Its now way easier to layer mesh snapped bones, allowing animators to have Blendshapes + Bone adjustments on the go

    hi, i see you know autodesk maya well, i'm trying to learn autodesk maya, but i need some help, i wanted to ask you if you can create a new tutorial where i show how to create uv map how to insert the textur and how to adjust the textur, then i also need to know how 2 points line up, and how to make a hole, i would be very happy to know these options i have listed, thank you in advance.

    Ah this is cool:) one thing I really would like to see one day is if we can finally use more hotkey combinations, such as like when you use shift you can only use very few numbers. From someone who was in 3d modelling around 6 years and about to start training as an animator, there are hotkeys that have been imprinted into me but the keys people recommend for animation I would have to get rid of them with the limitation😅
    But who am I kidding, probably won't ever change 😆

    • @LudicBrainwaves
      @LudicBrainwaves ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea Maya hot keys suck and I haven't found a simple way to change them. I feel like Maya makes things convoluted on purpose. The worst part about the hotkeys is GL figuring out how to edit any of them without going through some weird fancy BS. They couldn't make it as simple as click a button or right click a button and hit Edit like literally every other program and software out there

    • @Harrison_JW
      @Harrison_JW ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LudicBrainwaves exactly, it is quite ridiculous. I guess I can see that maybe it was done back in the day so that people in studios could use the exact same shortcuts without it getting out of hand. But yup a giant pain that could be easily fixed like you said

  • @maromaro3286

    important question: i hear you say things a lot like "i spent 3 weeks on this shot" i never have an idea of how much time you actually spent on these, like the animation in your showreel where the guy smacks his lips for example, would you be able to say if people mean like full time hours or part time hours when they say things like "it took me x weeks"

    • @SirWade
      @SirWade  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re talking to a professional animator and they say it, probably full time - if you’re talking to anyone who isn’t doing it as their main job it’s likely going to be part time hours. In my case for that lip snack shot- it was part time hours, after work on weekdays. That’s a good question!

    So, let me get this straight.. Autodesk is saying that, besides a few more new or improved tools, this is all enough to bring a new version of the sorf? A few tools that you can already find in script on the internet? Really...? I WOuld get more paying animbot than a new version of the soft...

    Great video as always Sir Wade, BUT! Let's be real! Nothing in Maya 2024 get's me excited at all. Autodesk should really up their game with this new update. These updates seem like they should have been in a service pack, not a full update. Boooo to you Autodesk. Every time Unreal comes out with an update, I'm like wow! how did they do that? but Maya? They give us just a little every update. Where is the real-time render? how about fixing Bifrost to work better on mid-range PCs? how about letting us use GPU for most of our workflow? The list goes on and on. I've used Maya for years and I have way more fun using Unreal Engin 5. I wish Maya's Workflow was like UE5, then I'll be looking forward to news from Autodesk.

      Maya is a professional tool. The upgrades are just to fine tune the application. Think about the IOS on the IPhones. Same thing. You can’t change a program every 4 days like Blender. Professionals don’t want that. They want stability. And the huge studios hate that too. Maya where it as to be the best. Modeling and animation.

    I am learning 3d animation in blender, there is an opportunity for me in the industry, or I must learn maya for 3D animation?

    • @calamari3772
      @calamari3772 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I’m just putting this here in case he doesn’t answer but maya is the industry standard so it’s very likely that you will need to learn it however there are some companies that are starting to use blender more which you might want to research a little into

    • @TGSuineg
      @TGSuineg ปีที่แล้ว

      You should prioritize learning the fundamentals of animation first and software second. That being said Maya is the industry standard and is better optimize for animators than Blender.
      If money is an issue, look for a student license (I think some online course are valid schools for Autodesk so see if skillshare, Udemy, etc. are accepted), an Indie license which is currently $309/yr in the US but can be cheaper depending on your country, Autodesk also has a pay-as-you-go option - Autodesk Flex but don't use it too long otherwise it'll be more expensive than Indie, and other method which I can't talk about online.

    • @SirWade
      @SirWade  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you want to be a character animator, right now Maya is the best tool to learn- but that doesn’t mean you can’t make great animation in other softwares. As long as you can animate, you can always learn more software when needed
