We have been playing with these restrictions a couple of years now and I can guarantee its a lot of fun!!! Great to see it is getting popular and hopefully we can see it grow even more!

I really like Artisan, the restriction resulting in the ability to play cards that otherwise wouldn’t see the light of day is really satisfying. I’ve got Artisan decks for Quintorius and Slimefoot and I’m tempted to build a couple more just because it’s such a satisfying process.
I know people are worried about Mana Drain and Demonic Consultation being legal and taking over the format, but it’s not like I see much of that in regular EDH so I don’t feel that there’s a great likelihood of the format being warped by a few strong cards originally printed at uncommon. As ever it comes down to communicating with your pod/group about the style of game you want - there’s no reason for Artisan to degenerate into a combo heavy or solved format when I suspect the majority of players want to use underloved cards from their bulk boxes and play stuff they otherwise feel would be underpowered.

Artisan is a nice idea; From the basis of wanting to have access to the draft archetypes and the really niche, deceptively powerful uncommons you'd normally end up cutting while brewing regular EDH in favour of stock rates and mythics that do the same but better.
I've been brewing pEDH decks for a while as a challenge -- restriction breeds creativity, after all. I may have to give a few Artisan builds a try.
Here's hoping it takes off proper!

Sounds fun! I always love letting unsung cards see play and this seems like a great way to have that happen

I really hope this format takes off. I've taken a break from commander due to games in my local stores really ramping up towards the more competitive end, not really being the games I'd like to play. I would definitely come back to play artisan EDH.

Also, the Artisan Commander Discord server is a cool place full of really helpful people!

Interesting that out of all the possible commanders to pick from General Marhault caught both of our eyes!
I instead went for a Menace tribal style of deck so either my opponents take damage from my 1/1 or 2/2 OR of they get pumped up to be a 7/7 or 8/8!
I was also looking at Queza, Augur of Agonies and thought it was funny, the idea of someone trying to speedrun drawing 40, 80, or 120 cards 😂

I freaking love artisan commander. It's actually my main format.

So, it’s pauper edh, but your commander has to be legendary and your deck can include uncommons and commons. Is that right?

ive been tinkering with a cardira list myself although ive only been playing it at regular commander pods and at the very least it warrents needing to be answered

With Vohar being printed, Consult + Labman in an IsoRev package looks pretty dumb in this format.

Yes, uncommon scepter outlets could certainly have a negative impact. With DTutor being uncommon as well, along with Mana Drain and FoW, power levels are very similar to cEDH but without fast mana or expensive color fixing

@@CommanderMechanic This was my issue with Conquest and Oathbreaker. They started out with some cool concepts like Arlin Werewolf tribal, then quickly just consolidated into the diet-cEDH playstyle. I'd hope this is different due to the mission statement from Alex, but you would absolutely need to ban something with those combo pieces to get there.

I just don't get how anyone can play more than maybe two or three commander games in a row- some of my best decks going against each other take minimum 20 to 30 minutes to finish one game.
What are you doing to play commander at standard speed?
Do you just not play and let them hit you for 10 turns with whatever they throw at you...?

Artisan is literally just peasant but with uncommon and lower.
