  • Ian finally gets his balance pipe to finish collecting the parts for the Obi Wan Lightsaber replica prop from Star Wars A New Hope. I'm super jealous of everyone who was able to pick one up.

Awesome!!! Congratulations, Ian! And Dustin - I totally feel your pain but have hope that one day - opportunity & available funds will meet at just the right point for the both of us!!

Don’t alter the BP!!!! I wouldn’t heat or chill it... I would modify the replaceable adapter before anything else. Lathe or turn/sand down the adapter to a semi loose fit... and that channel in the middle is for an O ring. Once it’s loose fit, put the O ring on, lube it up and it will create a tight enough seal to hold the BP.

@scottjua what's your take on cleaning surface rust? Leave it or clean it?

@@curtaumiller8528 I wouldn't alter a single thing. You're paying for the used look. You cannot replicate authentic patina, and any removal of 60+ years of use would be a crying shame. It's all jet fuel deposits and carbon as inconel doesn't rust. Any rust would be residual stain from surounding surfaces.

@@scottjua TIL about inconel. I had no idea. I'm with you on keeping the natural look.

I knew what it was the second I saw the yellow box. Lol. Yeah!! I made an adapter and no matter how tight my tolerances were it eventually slid. I actually put just a fine piece of fabric tape like hockey tape to get it to grip and stay. It needs a shim short speak because metal on metal will eventually slide. It’s hard to get it to stay and still fit. Unless it’s so tight that you have to use a mallet to get it on, but then it may never come off and that’s not good.

This one is not fitting at all, I will have to make the adapter a little narrower. There is a groove that is made for an o-ring to help keep it in place but I gotta make it fit first.

@@dustinwalruff oh ya an o-ring might work, I didn’t think of that.

@@dustinwalruff I was going to say Dustin, if you throw that adapter in Your drill press and just keep hitting it with sand paper to “turn it down” once she slides in try and find a nice o ring and a single dab of e6000 and never look back. ;) ace had a great o ring section in their gas/plumbing department for water heaters
