    A last chance dive, a momentary act of desperation when all else has failed and the gas is running out, the opponent is getting closer towards the try line at a pace you just can't match, last moment, last dive, finger tips to the ankle, praying, hoping, looking up and seeing them tumble. Nothing better in the world.

      💯 especially when they knock it on

      Just move his leg aside, toward to the other leg and it's all. The leg continues to move forward but gets caught by the other leg. Actually it makes him tripped over his own leg. Little force and great effect.

    So glad to see Stringer as the opening tackle. He is the one who made the tap tackle a thing.
    That one on Robinson is the OG.

    An ankle tap is simultaneously one of the greatest joys and the greatest hurts that can be delivered... Especially when a player is so close to the try line he can literally taste it... Only to get their hopes shattered 😅😅

    The one which doesnt appear on here is the one on the Scotland line, with the Scots put in. the ball comes back to the scrum half who pops the ball up to kick it clear, pulls his leg back, only to find a hand grasping his ankle and unable to kick it, so the ball drops and I think an England player pounces on it for a try. the look on the scrum half face when he realises someone has his ankle and he cannot kick the ball, is priceless.

    Would curse stringer. We went down to play a match in Cork against Pres when I was 14 and the scrum half down there was obviously very influence. He'd let guys run past him just to get the tap tackle in and it would work.

    • @al-uw4ln
      @al-uw4ln ปีที่แล้ว

      Why? Taking a tumble on the good lawn doesn't hurt at least when you have basic skills of falling. Colliding or getting dumped in other types of tackles looks much more painful.

  • @paulthomson2288
    @paulthomson2288 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Never ever deliberately try to make an ankle tap rather than make a proper tackle. It's only the last gasp attempt when that's the only option remaining. It's not an art it is an act of desperation which often doesn't pay off.

    Ankle tap, ball carrier falls and hits head on the ball/ground = red card for tackler. Coming soon. World Rugby vampires sucking joy out of rugby.

    • @AndrewDavidForde
      @AndrewDavidForde  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Except that hasn’t been suggested by anyone. Very odd hypothetical scenario to make up in your head as to why World Rugby are sucking joy out of rugby

    • @ajvanreenen1396
      @ajvanreenen1396 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AndrewDavidForde Just a bit of jest. Hypothetical is the key word, yes. I'm just highlighting the state of red cards in the game, and inconsistencies when dishing them out is a bit frustrating. Thanks for all your great content mate.
