When i was in school, there was a hierarchy based on looks ( long blond hair was at the top). Often pretty tween girls turned out to be the plainest of all in the end. I would not encourage beauty standards in schools, they should be focusing on other things, like being competitive in a positive way and helping, respecting others along the way and the parents encouraging this are overgrown teenagers themselves. Older men or boys might interpret this in the wrong way.

It's not just that kids that don't need to any elaborate skin care routine, but that their parents are either 1) buying it for their kids OR 2) allowing their kids to buy it with their own money. Shouldn't they teach their kid about budgeting a little? I'm okay with the kids buying some sweet smelling lotion or a little lip gloss, but why on earth are they putting ALL these chemicals on their faces? This is surely a trend (similar to the tanning) that people will regret.

I hate being considered a gen alpha kid. I’m nothing like this. Yeah I use skincare, yes I like makeup, yes I like Purfume, but not to excessive amounts. I use sdj (sol de jinero)safe skincare for my age, and mascara + lipgloss I’m 13. I use fidgets, slime, I like to draw, and play games like Roblox and Minecraft. So I am still a kid :) just bc I’m gen alpha doesn’t mean I’m like everyone else.

I think it's fine for 10 and up to use skincare IF ITS SAFE! I don't think 13 and under should be using Drunk Elephant and DEFINITELY NOT RETINOL but Sol De Janeiro is fine and so is bubble, People should not get mad at this. We just think it's fun and of course were gonna try it if it is ALL over social media and safe for our skin. If you don't like it then don't let your kid do it, you shouldn't put this stuff on the news!!!😑 I don't think this is new, kids have always been stealing there parents makeup. I am a Gen Alpha and I know that we are not doing this to grow up too fast! If adults hate that kids are doing this ADVERTISE SOMETHING ELSE! If fidgets were still allll over tiktok we would prob still be obsessed with them. I really don't want sephoras to close down for younger kids cause it is not our fault people are dumb and ruining testers. I used to have really bad acne and the dermatologist said I had to use cera ve and cetephil. Its better to cleanse your face and moisturize then not to do anything at all. Don't get mad at me this is my OPINION👋

Why are people surprised?! They are pre-teens totally normal for them to be into makeup and skin care, girly stuffy, etc. And Hygiene is something you wonna start teaching young, this is also the age girls start to get their periods which means they have to deal with acne, hormones, body odor etc. They're not infants or toddlers, this is a stage of development. It's always been like that.
(Now, do I agree with destroying the testers? No, and also, I can agree with they don't need treatment products for concerns like wrinkles)

They should be more concerned about washing their asses right and stinky body parts as well, and how to properly care for those areas before they prioritize a skin care routine for their face. I bet they don’t know how to properly brush and floss. That’s the type of hygiene they should be more concerned about in my opinion.

    • @central_scrutinizr

This has nothing to do with the normal development of being interested in hygiene and appearance during puberty…this is about young girls feeling immense social pressure to own expensive skincare products they don’t even need. If they’re into skincare, fine, use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer that cost no more than $10 each. This is about consumerism and social media popularity contests that are too much of a psychological burden for young people.

@@Vero2yuyou were abnormal in that sense yes. Young girls being interested in makeup, skincare, jewelry and fashion has been reality for ever.. that’s nothing new and it’s not at all uncommon and never has been. Magazines from the 1920s made for young girls have makeup and fashion tips. Those are things that women typically like (not all women of course and some men like those things too but historically it’s literally proven that (some/most) women like makeup and jewelry, that’s not even a debatable fact, not sure why that confuses you) And young teenagers wanting to copy older women is literally just what people do.. so teens liking those things is 100% normal. Nobody needs any of those things, they are a hobby..

It's okay for tweens and teens to use skincare. A 7yr old shouldn't rly be using skincare. However, I think it is good for us to be starting skincare early on as it becomes a habit to take care of our skin. But we don't need to be using retinols, eye creams, and all that other nonsense at our ages. It is not age appropriate and it will end up ruining our skin. Same with makeup, 10yr olds do not need makeup. Don't be in a rush to grow up, enjoy your childhood, you have so much adulthood to do all of these things. Dermatologists have said getting into a skincare routine as a tween or teen is good habits, but again, you just need a simplr routine. Ex. cleanser, serum, moisturizer, spf that's honestly it !!
