    Matter-of-fact reviews from people who have actually properly used the gear - GOLD. Thanks for sharing Mike.
    Also, your no BS style of commentary is very appealing. Keep it up.

    Mike gets to the recovery house, opens his clothing bag, & there's a Pademelon sleeping snugly. You cheeky Bastard!

    Thanks so much for taking the time to do your recaps and reviews. I come from a similar background as yourself and also applied for Alone - I'm glad I didn't get hthrough it as I couldn't have beaten Gina or yourself 😂Your recaps provide the context and background often missing from the show's edit and really underscores your massive achievement getting as far as you did. Well done that man.

      Thanks so much Jase. I’d still recommend doing it if you get the chance. It’s be incredibly rewarding even if you don’t win.

    Well done Mike, you should be very proud of yourself. What an amazing effort, you gave it your all. Being mediced (that’s not a word 😊) out is just out of your control I guess. You’re a seriously tough bloke. You should never feel embarrassed that you were outlasted in a survival contest. Gina was amazing and was able to catch and eat a (sometimes raw) wallaby to just give her the edge perhaps! I am looking forward to more of your exploits in the bush. Will you ever eat eel again, hahaha? Cheers.

      Thanks heaps Tee. Much appreciated. I actually loved the eel. I’m looking forward to smoking a few more.

    You did so well Mike. Love that my favourite competitor from the whole Alone series is someone that I can see more content from. Looking forward to following your journey going forward

    Loving the additional content, its almost more interesting to me than watching the show. Would’ve loved a detailed tour of your camp and all the projects you took on 👍🏻

      Thanks Steve. I managed to take some stuff out with me and hope to make a video with that.

    Great honest review Mike. Any gear company that belives their kit is good, should let you test and review it. We appreciate the honesty.

    This is so interesting! I wish they put more of this clothing/gear choice and how you used it in the show episodes. Congrats on your epic journey! Have you made a video about your thoughts on being pulled out? Do you think they should have left you longer?

      @OutbackMike  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks heaps Kali. Yes I’ve made a video and will put it up soon.

    Baha I've got a saudi head scarf too. I'm not even muslim but I've had it for almost ten years and now also have a sentimental attachment.

      😂yeah there good. That one has sentimental value too.

    I can't say I would have considered the albedo on sock drying. Handy advice

    I found the merino thermals are a great improvement over the plastic ones, as well.

    Are the down pants actual feather down or synthetic? I’m assuming you avoided any feather down; the damp/humidity and lack of reliable sunlight would have made keeping stuff dry pretty tricky?

    • @OutbackMike
      @OutbackMike  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ben. The pants are down. I went with a synthetic sleeping bag because that provides more insulation underneath and carry weight wasn’t an issue.

      @@OutbackMike What was the brand name of the down pants? Where did you get them?

    • @anywhereroam9698
      @anywhereroam9698 ปีที่แล้ว

      He mentions a couple of times he got them in Nepal and that they are fake (as in some knock off, not really the brand, he doesn’t mention which brand) but the down is real.
      I would chose synthetic due to the wet conditions and duration as well but the down worked really well for Mike.

  • @bonsaitreemaker

    Hey Mike what brand were the down pants?

    • @OutbackMike
      @OutbackMike  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They’ve got Everest written on them but I bought them at a market in Kathmandu (the city not the shop) so I think it’s a small local Nepalese brand. I haven’t found any down pants online anywhere which is surprising.
