In this video I go hands on with the Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT and try to figure out if the watch is... perfect. We use multiple criteria including size, aesthetic, feel, specs, all in between.
It's a gilt dial - that's not the same as faux patina. Faux patina is when they color the markers and hands to make them look aged. Also, the notion that Tudor is going to phase out their regular divers seems pretty remote. Not everyone wants or needs a GMT. A monochromatic bezel with one less hand has a lot of popular appeal.
As a bigger wrist person - I love the 41mm Black Bay - (and I love the simplicity of no-date for this watch - I have my Navitimer when I want 'busy'!) - Tudor is killing it!
I’d prefer an updated 41mm GMT. Basically the BB GMT Pepsi in 41mm with just a thinner mid case and a T-fit bracelet. That said, I’ll definitely eventually buy this one too.
Always liked the Pepsi BB GMT. I've an Explorer II and for a daily wear, it's hard to beat but would certainly like having one of these in my watch box. Great video, you called out exactly the bits I noticed (not bothered about the rivets, I have them on my BB Chrono and really don't notice them). Cheers from across the pond
Awesome review Ben! I have this watch finally after 3months waiting and I somewhat agree with the bezel gold, which i got used to and can tolerate. I did read that the OG BB58's are actually developing patina on the bezel and the gold actually turns white/silver. I cant wait for this piece to develop patina. Its accuracy is dangerously better than my omega SM300 heritage. This will be a sought-after piece if Tudor stopped making these since it is their first GMT Master Chronometer which means alot in a watch brand's history.
I hope they do expand the variants of this watch. For me, 39mm but without any gilt (I'm ok with a slight patina lume colour) on the dial or hands and a jubilee bracelet would be perfect.
I still need to see this watch in person. But I wear gold, not large amounts, but enough that a gold patina doesn’t concern me. But I still feel this would be amazing in monochrome… maybe borrow (or blatantly steal) from LONGINES the gloss black vs non-glossed bezel. It looks amazing in person and is an awesome look on a black bezel.
I agree with your opinion of the opaline dial GMT. I own that one. I got it because I loved the dial, but the thickness is definitely an issue. I thought I could get over the slab feel it has but I'm not sure now.I have a 7 inch wrist and feel I can just pull it off, but I can't see it remaining in my collection long term.
i wish they kept the "maxi" dial of the original bb58 divers instead of reserving it for the bb41 METAS. this is my one gripe about the recent tudor releases (not just the bb58 gmt). the indices and the hands are smaller/scaled down compared to the old ones.
Picked this up a month ago. Excellent watch for daily wear. Everything you want/ need in a watch, looks and feels great on the wrist. At the sub £5k price point i think this is tough to beat!
Picked up a AMZWATCH's watch as my first watch last month and I’m absolutely in love with it. Perfect size, looks elegant, very comfortable. Now my only problem is holding off from buying more watches so quickly!

I loved the Spirit Zulu 39 video where you go "i love everything Tudor" and then in slo-mo 😂😂😂

Anyone complaining about the gilt, look up Rolex 6542.
Best Release this Year from Tudor! 🥰

this has to be your longest Instagram reel yet

Beatiful watch....what's your wrist size please!?

Dude the black bay divers are their bread and butter
There is no faux patina. It's gilted.
Great video , what do you think of the Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT ? …

I much prefer the Monochrome. Best Tudor yet.

More TH-cam vids! Great review

The BB41 Monochrome is the best Tudor yet.
Which are the two tudors you own?
Time for Tudor to update the Pro with the slimmer METAS movement and pump out a polar dial to appease the masses!
If they thin the pro out to the same thickness as this watch I will drive through my ADs front door to buy one.
@BLR653 you and a whole army will man!
But imagine how pissed off the existing bb pro owners will be who bought it despite the thickness.
@bushpig6837 i had the pro for almost 2 years but traded that and a tank must large in for an Explorer 36
@@joshuakaplan5726 nice.
The hype is nowhere near as strong as it was for the OG 58
Need to get rid of the faux patina and the faux rivets
First
Bezel should be ceramic
Faux no.
that was incredible. what a beautiful watch and what great work you did on it!AMZWATCH
