Yeah its just bad that its easier with 5mil players to discover every inch of a world than it was back than with 11mil.
Smells like bad gamedesign and "idc, just pay your monthly so i can have my 5. lambo" - leadership

Maybe for some, but for me personally - I enjoy this shit much more than Retail...
The main reason I THINK, that retail is so hated, is because theres so much shit just FORCED upon you, you srsly cant NOT do it, if you wanna be successful in any normal shape or form.... Literally the only reason I like Classic so much, is bcuz there are 2 goals - money and gear.... and you do what you want to get those things...
Unlike in retail, where youre forced to do boring repetative objectives, for some side boosts which are pretty much mandatory... sometimes the simple things are the best...
OBVIOUSLY... there are things that Retail do better than classic, obviously... but the core of the game is fucked.... As many streamers and Current wow players have said - Make an alt, see how FUN it is :)

Once saw a paladin on a Black Scarab mount with the Scarab Lord title. I normally ignore things like this, but it was 2022 so this meant that guy had been playing that paladin since vanilla, so I couldn't help myself and talked to him. He told me about how he started back in 2005 and carried that one toon over to every expansion of the game until now and had just pre-ordered Dragonflight to go on to the next. Also showed me his Hand of A'dal title.
Not many things impress me in WoW anymore, but that guy did. You don't meet many players with that level of dedication to the game.

It took me at least two and a half months to get to level 60 because I came from RuneScape where everything was a grind so I would literally fish for half a day in WoW on the regular.
Other days I would go to darkshire and kill wogens and skin all day long. I have no idea how long stv took but I did every quest I could find...good times.

Running a guild was effectively a part time job requiring planning, structure, micromanagement etc. Raiding guilds back in the day were effectively dedicated clubs. Organising 10 people is way less challenging. Plus with 4 difficulty settings there is kind of a spot for every gamer. Different talents with more dmg from when the raid was not a farming ground. If it was like it was back in the days when a raid tier was current and new people got one shot from a spell or adds because they did to much damage. Naxx is an good example on this subject. Bosses debuffs and damage had the exact same value in wotlk version in lvl 80 and tanks had around 20k health when it was current tier and 5-6k in lvl 60.. You had to actually stack stamina instead of resistnces on some fights on retail because you would get one shot without anything you could do about it. Most classes are ignored, dungeons are reduced to cleave groups, pvp is cancer purely meant to troll with no balance, and NICE fixes that would of made classes usable, like the increasing max debuff limit, were shot down by the same tryhards who are spamming mages and warriors. We had a chance to relive it, and we ruined it.

You can get a group for raids no problem as a matter of fact a lot of people just lvl in ZG and get bis before lvl 60.

As someone wrote the game didn't change, but people meantime did, or mostly the concept of playing a mmorpg. I remember also ff14 and having the same sensation, that is people skipping stories, quests, just click and go, kick and check others for lvl of items. @Adrian Wilson "Well why don't the people that want normal runs get together?"
As I explained several times, people that want a normal run can't do so because everyone that would be doing a run like normal is in carries because carries form much faster so it ends up that the carries are taking over the possibility to have normal runs. it's in human nature to gravitate towards whatever brings the faster result.
"Lol You can't dictate how a game should be played."
All I'm saying it's the WORLD of Warcraft not Endgame Warcraft. Half of the entire game is about the levelling process in Classic and forming friendships over the levelling, getting someone to play the game for you that you're paying for per month doesn't seem what any player should be doing in the game.

I didn't even originally play in the classic days, but boy did the thunderfury one still sting.
What's worse, is that my brain is a victim of the modern streamlining. I don't minmax, but I do follow build templates and Azeroth Autopilot when leveling. The closest I've got to stopping and selling the roses was reading quest text in Shadowlands, but I got sick of it and needed to be 60 cause I felt like I was missing out. So autoaccept and turn in quests. Auto flightpath. If some of it wasn't so obvious by unavoidable conversations, I wouldn't have had much of a clue what was happening in Revendreth.
I tried Classic when it came out, and it definitely had a sweet charm to it. I played for like 20 hours and got my Troll mage to a whopping lvl 16 or something. In that time I could be max in Shadowlands. It's rough :(
Also I love that the social aspect was revived w/ Classic, but then remembered I loved Dungeon/Raid finder because I didn't have to worry about interacting/getting along with people outside of some friendly conversation during a dungeon if they weren't just silently going through the motions.

Honestly, for me classic is new in every sense because I never played wow back then. I started during lich king. I played RuneScape before wow. I understand everyone’s complaints about classic and how it isn’t the same. But for me it’s an escape from retail. When I get on classic I feel like I’m actually playing an MMO. When I hop on retail I feel like I’m playing some Asian mobile MMO. Classic feels like a breath of fresh air. I’ve got TONS of spells, class uniqueness and I don’t feel this giant rush to hit max level. I just go through each zone and try to complete all the quests.
I tried playing retail yesterday. I logged on, chilled outside org, watched these people duel, realized they were using covenant spells or something, and I was just like.... what have they done to this game??? And I logged back into classic and realized I’m never going back to retail again.
