In my 'Boards' compilation, I had room for one version of this track: I choose it over the original. I can pay no higher compliment than this. Outstanding effort.
i have always loved roygbiv. but this rework is simply gorgeous. feels like you have opened another chapter in a book i thought i knew quite well. thank you so much for this...
Thank you so much! Truth be told, I slaved over those parts trying to fit them in with the original in a way that sounded natural, but would still throw listeners for a bit of a loop. A couple chord changes here and a recurring melody there. Anyway, I'm very glad you like it! Comments like yours inspire me to get off my butt and get more original music on here!
Thanks, scotologic! It is an amazing piece to 'play' with. I'm glad the end result seems to resonate with a lot of BOC fans - at least I know I didn't stray too far from the feel and mood of the original material!
the first time I heard the original ROYGBIV track by BoC was the first time in my life that I realized that music could make me completely break down and cry because I was happy. (I know that sounds cheesy, but... I'm sure the people that get it, get it.) This song does this song justice. Well done.
You've really made something very special here. Additionally, you've made my day. I've been waited for BOC to release some sort of extended mix of ROYGBIV, but they should thank you for doing this for them. Wonderful job. Thank you for posting!
@@darrellandrew5605 I just saw your comment here and don't know why I missed it two years ago! Thank you so much for your kind words - it always brightens my day to read such great feedback from people who've discovered my little corner of TH-cam! :)
Well here I am in 2019 stumbling upon this little nugget. And with the looping on I can now make it all last even longer! Thank you - a lovely piece of work.
I love BOC, but this effort is spectacular and I prefer it to the original. Not a day goes by without several listens since I discovered it. The arrangement is layered and disciplined and builds on itself throughout to a final breakthrough at 6:29. I hear Oberheim, ARP, Taurus, tasteful and precise modulation and I am further blown way after just reading that you did this with virtual synths, a notebook and MT software. The best things in life ARE free and you my friend are a phenomenal contributor and I thank you. Please do more.
+New_Renaissance WOW. I'm... humbled by your words - thank you so much, NR! As you mentioned, I don't do any of this for money - I only do it in the hopes that my music will eventually find an audience and help to make someone's day a little brighter. Reading your words and knowing you've gotten such enjoyment out of this piece makes everything I do worth it... a hundred times over. And of course, I will definitely do more!
+Cryonaut The praise is heartfelt and well deserved. Have you heard anything of Quantic? I have 4 titles from that camp that you might find interesting. They are "Time is the enemy", "The 5th Exotic", "Life in the Rain" and "Infinite Regression". BTW, when you say the beginning of Halcyon is BOC influenced would the influencing track happen to be "Split your Infinities"? sure sound slike it...
+New_Renaissance Hey, NR - I hadn't heard of Quantic before, but I just gave some of his tunes a listen these last couple of days, and I'm impressed! Diggin' the latin/jazz influences at work, and it reminds me a bit of Beanfield, which I also really enjoy. I'll have to check out more of his stuff. And funny enough, the beginning tones of Halcyon were done before I had ever listened to Tomorrow's Harvest, so it was completely coincidental. I was just checking out some of the presets in the new Logic upgrade at the time and immediately thought of BOC when I heard that one. Interesting also that I see more and more synth developers adding Boards inspired presets in their offerings now, which is nice! :)
I like this a lot. I was born a little late to feel the full effect of this album (namely the nostalgia), yet this version feels sort of updated, with a slightly more modern feel that is closer to the sounds of my childhood.
The Roygbiv cover section is good, sounds very similar to the original- you got that distinctive bass sound nailed. But the bits that really stand out are the parts that you have made yourself- the breakdown at 5 minutes is amazing, but most of all the first two minutes- that new bass phrase and the drums, fantastic stuff!
Ben I come back to this song year after year, since 2013 ish. Those key changes are still legendary 🤘 loving Transcendence, and definitely looking forward to your next work, if and when that's possible of course. Mucho respeto amigo.
Thanks so much for your kind words and support, Mike! I'm happy to report that work on my second album continues to move forward (slowly but steadily) and I have almost all the proposed tracks in Beta form at this stage. Most of the music is composed and recorded and it's all sounding good to my ear. However, this album will have extensive vocals throughout, so the lyrics and vocal melodies are taking me a while to construct. I also have a few cover tracks that I'm working on, separate from the album, but I'm not sure when the first of those will be ready. I wish I could promise dates, but the best I can do is that it'll be done when it's done. Just know that it's encouraging comments like yours that keep the fire alive and inspire me to keep plugging away at it. Thanks again!

What an outstanding logically orchestrated completion to my favorite BOC tune which I also felt was sadly incomplete. Finally, this melodic masterpiece of sound comes to fruition in all it's deserved glory. Far better than the much too short original. Great job here, your effort is much appreciated.
ROYGBIV is a musicologist's emotional roller coaster - it just goes all over the place, and pretty quickly. I love what you have done with it. Tremendous job.
ROYGBIV has always been one of my favourite BoC tracks and would love BoC to have produced an extended version. However, having just listened to your cover I am very impressed. Adding to my playlist. Well done Cryonaut.
This is incredible. Roygbiv has been my favourite piece of music from the moment I heard it. I do enjoy listening to covers although nothing quite compares to the original. This is the first mix I've come across that does. Truly impressive work. Thank you!
Hey, glad you like it! Yeah, the first time I heard ROYGBIV, I fell in love with it immediately, and I can't really say that about very many other bits of music. BOC have truly created something special in that track.
Thanks so much, and so glad you like it! I did have to take a few liberties with Bocuma, but I think the end result is worth it. I always like it when a song uses more than one theme or melody, and then mixes and plays them off of each other within the song structure.

Thanks so much for the kind words! Yeah, I was pretty nervous working on this project because I knew it would be compared to the 'incomparable' original by BOC. This cover was the very first thing I ever published online, so that made it even more nerve-wracking! This piece went through 46 different versions before I felt it was ready for TH-cam. I still have a large stack of CDs in the car, each one with a slightly better version than the last, lol! Glad you like it so much - judging by the feedback here, it certainly seems that the effort was worth it!
Hey, thanks, Mark! Yeah, I didn't quite achieve the same level of "murkiness" that BoC is known for, but I suppose the resulting clarity has it's own unique appeal as well. Glad you like it!
I love this tune, Boards of Canada is life. I also think you could do an amazing cover of Comet Course, or Catacombs by Flying Lotus. that would make my life... But yeah, you're great.
I love this song is perfect ... the only thing he needed was to be extended a little. It's so nostalgic... the more nostalgic song that can make me remember the past as well. Matanga! Melancholic, nostalgic and more ...
+Sinowi Cedillo Yeah, it's funny how one little song can stir up so much emotion. Nostalgia and melancholy are two words I would also use to describe the feelings I get when listening to the original. Thanks for listening! :)
+Cryonaut couldn't agree more. roygbiv just lays it on my emotions very heavily. reminds me of a certain time in my life when I began listening to Boc..and also a band called Sts9. wouldn't trade my ears for anything!

This piece went through 46 different versions before I felt it was ready for TH-cam. I still have a large stack of CDs in the car, each one with a slightly better version than the last, lol! Glad you like it so much - judging by the feedback here, it certainly seems that the effort was worth it!
Cryonaut keep em coming brother
La première de 2 minutes de cette playlist est super !!! dommage qu'elle ne dure pas plus longtemps .
Hey, thank you, Alex! I'm glad you like my little remix of BOCUMA!
Yes ! really nice and hovering 👌
really nicely done! I think they'd like it a lot.
Thanks, Tom :)
fantastic
You talented fellow, top quality covers man.
Thanks! Tears of joy, I hope...
WOW, just discovered this and it's seriously such a great cover! Love how obvious the chords are compared with the original.
Hey, thanks, Mark! Yeah, I didn't quite achieve the same level of "murkiness" that BoC is known for, but I suppose the resulting clarity has it's own unique appeal as well. Glad you like it!
I can't believe I just found it now ...
It's a really good cover my friend, thanks !
***** Hey thanks - I'm glad you like it! :)
I love this tune, Boards of Canada is life. I also think you could do an amazing cover of Comet Course, or Catacombs by Flying Lotus. that would make my life... But yeah, you're great.
Hey thanks, and I'm glad you like it! Haven't checked out Flying Lotus before, but I will now :)
+luma62183 Hey, I'll have to check out Sound Tribe Sector 9 - thanks for the tip! :)
Excellent version .. thank you Cryonaut :-)
Hey, thank YOU! And you're very welcome! :)
I like it, and you're right, Boards of Canada's is much too short.
Glad you like my extended version! :)
*Very* well done. Please keep making music.
I wish that you made and published more covers of BOC ;-)
beautiful just beautiful :)
Thank you!!!
Masterpiece 👍
Wow - thank you, Ali!
Thanks cryonaut, I hope you’re still making music :)
I am... slowly, lol! I'm working on my second album as well as a handful of cover tracks. It's a slow process, but progress is being made on a regular basis. Stay tuned... :)
Sweet little piece.
Now I'm off to go listen to the original....
Brilliant!
Thank you! :)
God I wish that download link still worked. This is amazing and completely on another level from any 'cover'. I don't know if you still read these comments, but damn, great work dude.
Hi Rob! Yes, I still read each and every comment , and thank you for your kind words! The website is just down temporarily while I audition a new host/sitebuilder. I'm hoping to get it back online in the next few days. I'll also have another original track hitting TH-cam soon :)
High praise, indeed! Thank you, and I'm glad you like it! :)
