If only Celtic Sea Salt was sold in bigger bags at a reasonable price up here in Canada, I would buy at least 10 or more pounds if I could but only can find small 1lb bags at about $20 each. I make saurkraut with kosher salt instead because it's a little more affordable and does well. As for Himalayan salt, my ferments turned bad due to the same thing you mentioned about the Utah salt.

Hey April! Awesome QandA, thank you so much for your time and valuable information!! So many of us appreciate it more than you know!! I picked a bunch of Elderberries and created a tincture last week. I found a video of yours on picking Elderberries and took your advice about putting in the freezer to help process them. Thanks for that tidbit of info 😉. I picked through the berries to make sure there were no green berries or stems but after I put them in alcohol, I checked the next day and there was a whole bunch of green berries floating around. I am scared now that I picked berries that weren't super ripe. I thought it may be the alcohol starting to pull the color? Is my tincture ruined?! Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

    • @sheisofthewoods
      @sheisofthewoods  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It's super early to be picking elderberry they're typically not ready until at least late August mid September. It will be okay as the alcohol kills the glycoside but it's make it a hot tincture just to be sure (place it somewhere very warm but keep the sun off of it) to really break down the glycoside.

Here are the two recipes I talked about 😊
Walnut Banana Bread & Lemon Cream 😍
These are made with Homemade Milk Kefir, Homemade Skyr yogurt, Raw goats milk (we have our own goats), Eggs + various flavoring/fruits etc.
      Zero thickeners needed 💚
      Walnut Banana Bread:
      1/2 cup Honey Sweetened Skyr
      1/2 cup Milk Kefir
      1/4 cup Milk (whole)
      1/2 Maple Syrup
      2 LG eggs
      2 LG Bananas pureed
      1/2 tsp cinnamon
      1/4 tsp nutmeg
      1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup chopped walnuts for mix in cycle.
Mix well, will get you right to the max fill for freezing. Processed as ice cream, needed a respin, then the mix in. AMAZING!!
      Lemon Cream:
      1 cup Honey Skyr
      1/2 cup Milk Kefir
      3/4th cup Milk (whole)
      2 LG eggs
      Zest of 1 LG lemon
      Juice of 1 LG lemon
      1/2 cup cane sugar
1 1/2 tsp lemon oil (not essential oils, pressed lemon oil for cooking)
Mix well, freeze, I used the frozen yogurt setting for this one and it's sooooo smooth and creamy!
You could use Skyr yogurt from the store.
We love these because they're FULL of gut healing probiotics, high protein, good fats, loads of B vitamins, & even tons of vitamin K1.
We don't eat things super sweet so you may find a need for more maple syrup or sugar.
