Things are way better than what is shown in these so called documentaries. As a resident I agree that prices are high but there is a lot of wastage in Sri Lanka so now the people have learnt a lesson and hopefully become more careful with what nature has provided in abundance in this country. I agreed to the organic farmer because in our rice field in the province we never used any chemicals that is why the harvest is continued and the quality of soil remained organic. that land was cultivated since multiple generation of generations until now. And the main reason why the ban of chemical fertilizer was not for the goal of shifting to organic farming but the government foreign reserved fund that used to purchased imported product like fertilizers was diminished until it was drained. Without foreign reserve a nation cannot import a product.
SL is a socialist country and that means everything runs on subsidies and debt, until they cannot afford it anymore :) When I went there I was amazed how cheap trains and bus tickets were, especially in a country that has zero energy production, all the tuktuks beeping and riding with no customers... It was a very good idea to implement organic farming, but there should had been a scaling down use of chemicals in a span of at least 10 years. The government now is now offering Golden visas to foreigners bringing $ in, but it's a horrible program with high $ requirements and the money is going basically to real estate.Instead, they should lower capital requirements and redirect investments into organic farming cooperations.

In my familya rice paddys even if we are 100% organic....we leave the soil for about 2 or 3 months uncultivated so that the biodiversity will replenish on its own. The problem with "Lankans" is their recent claim of no food shortage was due to bunch of shipments of food from India, Bangladesh, China, Australia and even Europe to save them. I am in UK I eat only one meal a day It is mainly fat organic 100% grass fed meat eggs some vegetables and a lot of animal saturated fat like butter lard etc no fruits at all no bread rice pasta or other rubbish and it is perfect People should eat one meal max two meals a day mainly animal saturated fat meat eggs butter ghee butter lard etc no fruits sugar etc
Not everyone is fine having animal based diet. Asians are mostly vegetarian or used to a balanced diet of one animal protein veggies and lots of leafy greens and fruits.

True Cultivators are the Insects, who give us honey, fruits and seeds. The people of false Farmers use poison and chemical fertilizers and make their own soil barren. Fertilizer does not improve the soil and you have to use it every year. Animal manure improves the soil. If a lot of chemical fertilizer has been used in the soil, it takes a few years to make it fertile again with animal manure.

Not everyone is fine having animal based diet. Asians are mostly vegetarian or used to a balanced diet of one animal protein veggies and lots of leafy greens and fruits.

Its all business G ones you grow plants,fruits,vegetables etc. With chemical fertilizers people would get sick and they can grow it cheap too and once that is done, from the otherside they sell medicines for sick people and make huge ton of money from it they lose nothing we lose everything tell me a single person whose really healthy in srilanka almost everyone are sick from the young kids its actually a shame.
True Cultivators are the Insects, who give us honey, fruits and seeds. The people of false Farmers use poison and chemical fertilizers and make their own soil barren. Fertilizer does not improve the soil and you have to use it every year. Animal manure improves the soil. If a lot of chemical fertilizer has been used in the soil, it takes a few years to make it fertile again with animal manure.
